i've just stumbled across these "tilt-shift photography" galleries, they make things look like models:

I used to do this at photography skool with the "technical" cameras we got to work with (the ones that look like accordions). It's totally cool, but does indeed make the buildings look strange. Actually, it's your brain messing with you because it "expects" to see perspective distortion like converging lines and stuff. A building has straight walls and perdendicular lines, even though you only see them in pictures where the camera corrected for it :)
