...in terms of knowledge.

What's the difference between this and this, both from samsung? Which is better, and why? They're almost identical in price...

NVME is faster, but you need to check your board is compatible.

In fact, the closest alternative right now is another of Samsung's drives, the SM961 Polaris, which was released a couple of months ago. This is an OEM product not normally meant for sale to consumers but because it’s based on the same technology as the 960 Pro and offers similar performance, retailers have been selling some of the drives.

Evo one has 1gig cache on board compared with 512mb on the Polaris one. Evo has also been tested with over 400 terabytes of writes where as the Polaris hasn't.

In real terms though I would doubt you would see much in it on a day to day basis, if anything at all.

So, @ECA/@Embattle/@Bob007. - that polaris drive looks like the 960 PRO just before they've rebadged it? It's stated IOPS are better than the EVO but with less cache ram?

Meh, I guess I'm just splitting hairs. Need to get on and purchase tbpfh ;)
