Got the same-ish problem myself, started as lag in agramon ( the new island ) then i figured id just wont go there and all will be ok, well. worked. but now i have LD problems aswell ;< started today, went LD, restarted INET connection, started daoc, played for 1-2 minutes, LD, repeated, and LD. now tryed a toon logged in another area.. no good, LDed again :x
Dunno what to do tbh, just trying to search my pc for viruses, updating windows and so on, though i doubt it will help much ;<
I guess if the problems continue, iil just format my pc... again
Guess was aimed at the thread starter, but iil post my speccs aswell.
CPU; 2.8 GHZ Pentium HyperThreading thingy
ram;764?DDR
HDD; 170gigger 7200RPM
GFXcard; Nvidia GeForce TI4200 with AGP8x
Shuttle mainboard model, SB61G2 800FBS with uberleet technologi and stuff.
Inetconnection; Tele2NORWAY 1.mbit down 0.256mbit up, running it thru a CNET switch.
Ok, not 100% sure about that first part, diddnt find it on network card properties, running windows 2000 pro, is it possible for me to do that with this windows?
Will try to run pingplotter if you tell me where i can find the prydwen IP adress to ping.
That migth give me some info on why i lag on agramon, maybe.
But it seems like the whole system "LD`s" not just daoc. I will try to see if i can find any new network card driver`s, run without the switch for a while and see what happens. Ii`l post here any results.
Also remember run the program while you play, make shure your packetloss sampling window has 10minutes or more showing.
Also make shure it is quite frequent in its traces, every 3-4seconds isnt a bad frequency.
Things to look for HIGH max pingtimes on the route. If you find such peaks on the first 1-4 jumps chances are great thet it is your ISP causing the problems.
If it is on the 5-XX jumps you cant do much about it.
Pingplotter is a damn nice tool for finding problems of this kind.
Other things that can cause your problems. winsock hijacking, there are some fix tools for this out there. many spyware programs including M$ beta spyware program finds such things.
Your firewall, sometimes when changing zones, porting etc you can open new sockets or even new connect to other servers. Some firewalls if not set correctly or the firewall itself is made to act a certain way it can mean trouble.
This is also why you should check your network card, properties, advanced tab, and make shure if checksumming is there make shure it is disabled. this setting is the main cause of 80% of the LD problems. 10% is spyware/software the other 10% is isp/firewall/router problems more or less.
