Actually Alrindel link resumes it all, sadly true, I had a ranger alt in beta too :/ still have him as lvl14 in exca :|

<reminds the old champ nerfing>

Well, maybe sumday achers will get sum luving, as champs did, altho they wont ever b the same class just as champs are NOT. (Once ago champs were light tanks with magical abilities to focus their power on 1 target and destroy it, nowadays they are just heavy tanks.)

wow, I had no idea how much they nerfed Archers. Thank you for http://www.daocscout.com/

I will still follow my heart though and play a Archer but there is one more request that I will ask you people...

Could somone please draw up a list that will explain the advantages and disadvantages of most classes if not all. Because I do not understand most of the classes, there seems to be 3/4 differant types of tank, what makes them differant from one another?

Oh and playing Morrowind in the meantime on my pc untill I can play Daoc does suck!!!

Haha, that link was awsome. Thank you sooo much.
Surprisingly it did actually help me in seeing what the differant classes do...

... on that note, would it be possible to get some links or further information on the Bard, Warden and the Nightshade classes?

I hate being a newb, it really does suck. But, I just want to know what Im going to expect when I start playing.

thnx.

Bards and Wardens are both secondary healing classes - that is, they can heal and resurrect the dead, but not quite as well as the Druid who is Hibernia's primary healing class. The bard's primary ability is to be able to play songs (continuously running spells) which give the group high speed, constant endurance regeneration or constant mana regeneration - vital for any exp group to keep the time resting between fights to a minimum, but extremely boring for the bard. Bards are also Hibernia's primary mezzing class, that they get a range of mesmerize spells that let them freeze whole groups of attacking enemies in their tracks, giving the group time to kill them one by one - vital for any RvR group, but again not terribly exciting for the bards.

Wardens have a little bit more offensive ability than bards, but their most valuable ability is "pulsing bladeturn" - a continuously renewing shield around each group member that blocks enemy attacks. It's a long-standing joke that this is so valuable to a group that a warden will be welcome even if he doesn't make any other contribution whatsoever - he can turn the bubble on, stick to another group member and then go and watch a movie on TV, and the group will still be glad to have him.

Both wardens and bards are group friendly (well, wardens are from the time they get the first level pulsing bladeturn, at any rate) and don't usually have too much trouble finding a group.

The nightshade class is Hibernia's assassin class - he can stealth, apply poisons to his weapons to make them more effective, and at higher levels gets skills that enable him to climb the walls of enemy keeps to kill defenders inside. Nightshades are probably the worst class in Hibernia for leveling up: they are as unwanted in groups as rangers, and they can't solo as well as rangers who have the advantage of the bow. However because they are the only class left who can solo in RvR somewhat effectively (generally speaking) there are an awful lot of them out there - Thidranki, the low level RvR zone, in particular is packed with assassins from all three realms.

Archers are cool if you make sure you use the right arrows for the right job. Make sure you use the arrows that give you a + against the monster you are fighting - it makes killing yellows easy. With my scout on albion (and my ranger on hib but a long time ago:)) I could regularly drop yellow monsters in 4 arrows before they reached me.

Hail all,

Newbie Ranger here. Was wondering what was the difference between crafter made arrows vs store bought arrows.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All store bought arrows and weapons are AUTOMATICLY 85% quality. the rule of thumb to follow is that the higher the quality the closer the item will preform at its maximum performance.

All crafted arrows and other stuff is at a minimum 94% quality. And a smart Fletcher will stack the 94 to 97 quality arrows on top of the 98 and 100 quality stacks to magicly improve the whole stack to the higher quality.

**edit**(deleted stuff about dmg bonus) thx oak, im just glad to be half right sometimes ***edit***

My suggestion is to find a guildie that has 500 in fletching and toss him 10 gold for a full stack of 400 arrows. Not only are you hooking up your local crafter but you are also getting FAR better arrows than you would from a dirt merchant.

new DAOC golden rule: Unless a drop is 100% quality there is a crafter that can make you a better one that will serve you better.

Who are these crafters? NPC's? Players? Where are they found and why do they provide a service? Thnx.

Crafters are players who have trained in one (or more) of the trade skills and can manufacture equipment and weapons. There are currently four trades in the game: Armourcraft (reinforced and scale), Tailoring (cloth and leather), Weaponcraft (all weapons except for bows), and Fletching (bows, arrows and musical instruments). Two new trades will be added next week: spellcrafting and alchemy.

Why buy from crafters instead of NPC merchants? All NPC-sold material is 85% quality, where player crafted is 94% to 100% quality. Furthermore, NPCs only sell lower-level equipment, suitable for levels 1-26 or so. After that, the only gear is either dropped by monsters or crafted. Finally, it costs considerably less to make an item than to buy it from an NPC - although, naturally, what price a player crafter sets on his merchandise is entirely up to him.

One note about the preceding comment: while arrows do have a quality level, it's not taken into consideration by the game. It's the quality of the bow that matters: 85% quality arrows and 100% quality arrows do exactly the same damage. The advantage to buying crafted arrows is more direct: they're cheaper.

Where to find crafters? Crafters making lower level equipment can usually be found in Tir na Nog in the courtyard outside the palace, where the forge is. If you have some money to spend and you want to buy some gear, start there first. If you need higher level equipment, head for the town of Innis Carthaig, where the medium to high level crafters work their trade. If you can't find anyone there, try the who command - /who fletcher or /who smith which will display any crafters who have set their "open for business" flags on. Finally, if you need a very high level item and only one of the top crafters will do, you may need to make an appointment. Here's a recent-but-incomplete list of the crafters on Hibernia/Excalibur:
