Don't know if you're aware what this game is, but every enemy in Ikaruga is either white or black. You can switch your ship to be either white or black as well. As long as you're white, you're invulnerable to all white fire. If you're black, you're invulnerable to black fire. However, when you're black, your weapons barely damage black enemies as well and vice versa. So it's really twisting back and forth between white and black to survive. Also, there's no health bar in Ikaruga; one shot and you're dead. The bars are the power bars, you absorb shots of the same polarity as your ship to charge it, then you can fire the homing missiles.

I wonder if his brain hemispheres have been severed from each other.

The human brain is capable of some amazing things but sadly we will never get near its full potential. Only occasionally something is unlocked in somones brain due to certain circumstances.

Aye, it's been out for a while. I've got it on the DC like Whipped. It's a good game and also annoying as fook.

EDIT:
Jaysus, just seen the vid, that guy's incredible. He must have put some serious time into that cos he's not reacting to anything he knows exactly what's going to happen next. When you get that good it's like having an autopilot in your head.

Treasure shooters are often referred to as 'puzzle' shooters, insomuch as it's a case of memorising patterns etc.

That said though, I've seen this before and it's very clever. Look up the Ikaruga appreciate DVD to see if played through on hard difficulty with no loss of life and a perfect chain through the game, that's impressive.

We use a stupidly small % of brain power in a lifetime, i think its 1/100 of 1 percent.

We are imperfect and its slowly getting worse. 2 imperfect humans create a slightly more imperfect person etc

Uhm. I have a feeling saying stuff like "we're not using its full potential" is based on those kinds of statistics that say we only use 10% of our brain for conscious thought, or whatever. What the brain does in general is pretty damned amazing (just the ability to communicate as we're doing is extremely special, and not really a conscious process at all), so I think saying that we'll never harness its full power is a bit of a misconception. It's not like there're huge masses of brain that're never used, it's just that it's not used for the very limited and specific bit that we call consciousness. (Although sure, if a bit of brain is damaged there's often some leeway for other bits taking over its functions, but AFAIK it's usually at the detriment of something else.)

Good examples are idiot savants - extremely gifted in some senses or abilities; completely retarded (in the proper sense of the word) in others. It's a trade-off.

Edit: just seen the reply. Like I said, I think those sorts of statistics are totally misleading. Define "brain power", for one thing.

He must have broad shoulders.

As for not using all our brain's capacity, that seems a bit silly to me, and seems to deny the theory of evolution.

Human brain uses 10% at any given time, correct?

It's like using a computer, it doesn't use...no wait...it does use all fucking process and mem thingies to do one simple task.

Anyway, human brain might not use it's full potential, but there are so many different places in the brain that need to be used at different times.

As an example, ytou wouldn't want your "smart" part being effective when making "happy times" with the missus.

"Excuse me dear, in your effort to please my manitary outlet, if you turn your decending angle 15 degrees forwards, i would get more sexual pleasure" *slap*
