I have always wanted to go back in time with a harrier jump jet to the Battle of Britain take enough fuel and ammo for 2 weeks imagine how many planes you could shoot down. But I think hovering up in front of a big German bomber would be funnier. Or take a Challenger 2 tank back to a massive World War 2 tank battle and just sit in the middle knowing that can’t touch you

hax!

I dont think I would change anything, the thing with the wars was, that although they were brutal and bloody, alot of technological advancements were made during that period to get the upper hand on the germans. You could reading this message on a 200Mhz processor if it wasn't for the war :p.

I think I would go back to probably medievil times, just to see what it was like. Theres no real history recorded around those times. It would be awesome to see it first hand.

Isn't that a bit selfish? "I wouldn't save millions of lives because it would slow down technoligcal advancement"

/edit: although it probably isn't possible to prevent the wars as one man anyway. Just hypothetically speaking.

There wasn't a lot of fluffy romance about actually living in the middle ages.
Most ppl wouldn't last 5 seconds without modern comforts which have softened and pampered us into mere shadows compared to the harsh realities of surviving in those times.

"Cause the human faeces and other filth lying in the streets and lanes in the city to be removed with all speed to places far distant, so that no greater cause of mortality may arise from such smells."

Ahh yes if i had a time machine of doom, what would the yank redneck cowkiller do.

1. I would take a shotgun back to the golden days when they used swords and have them all worshipping me, God would be the term they referred to me as.
2. I would go back to the night i had sexual intercourse with tilda's mother(the queen) and do her once more hoping that maybe she would have twins, twice the royalty, twice the goodness
3. I would go back and take all of einstein's inventions, and take the credit cause thats what i am.. A GLORY TAKING FREAK
4. I would take back all the nights of sex with random synergy members and random members throught the game because frankly... who likes the awkward following morning feelings.. not me.. not you..
5. I would go back and hang out with Jesus, i have a feeling that we would be best friends

If I remember correctly there's been a thread like this in general where someone posted an interesting idea: you can't go back into the past and change the present, because the present already exists.

Affecting the past affects the future.
If you went back and killed your grandfather you wouldn't exist.

yet... isn't possible yet ;)

btw, this reminds me, a while back I thought up a way of travelling back in time, reckon it would work with the proper tools as well!

heres how you do it;

Obtain a suitably futuristic time machine look-a-like thingy. place a clock inside it. 1 hour before the clocks go forward for daylight savings time, get inside the time machine, here's the important part: when everyone else puts thier clocks forward, do nothing to your clock!

When you step out you'll be a whole hour into the distant past! :D

I didnt get much further than that sadly, the only other detail I managed to get worked out was that the time machine would have to be red, otherwise the thing wouldnt work

There's a stack of papers you can look at on the net about this. Time paradoxes. Faster than light speed. Theory of Quantum Gravity. Superstring theory. Steven Hawking is a world authority on time travel.

Read a lot on it. A lot of the stuff goes over my head. I don't have a doctorate in advanced theoretical physics and applied mathematics. Some of the concepts can make your head spin. So does alcohol come to think of it.

Not really, as I do exist and you can't simply undo that.

Example: You travel back in time to 1940 and kill my grandfather. I'm talking to a friend of mine. What happens at the moment you kill my grandfather? Do I disappear into thin air?

Maybe if someone kills your grandfather, he creates another universe where evertyhing is exactly the same, except the fact that your grandfather was killed.

First I'd visit camelot and king arthur! but I dont think they would like me there so i'd prolly be killed way to fast.

so I'm going for my second choice!

Go back like 4 years at start of DAoC EU. Start with some friends, make fixed pve grp, with perfect setup, buffbot included and "own"

I'm guessing you would disappear into thin air. Your existence is derived on the basis that your DNA was created before you, not you before your DNA. Remove the seed of your existence and you can't possibly exist. Why should an alternative universe be created ?

Its not that you would disappear its you would never have existed, so many things would change form just killing your grandfather, everyone he ever came into touch with, your father, your mother a lot

People who met you may die due to not meeting you etc

So in your example if you are talking to someone then someone else goes back in time and kills your grandfather then you talking to someone would never had happened as the timeline you are on would never have existed

I'd go back to 1483 and see what really happened to Edward V and Richard, Duke of York.

if time travel was possible it must of already happend. look at the examples already given.

for all we know, everything we do now could be because of a time traveler.

if i could travel back in time, id go back 16 years and beat the shit out of my biological father.

theoretically timetravel is invented simultaneously at all points in time o_O

watch back to the future, it creates another timeline! and you wouldnt dissapear as you are in a different timeline....
