theoretically timetravel is invented simultaneously at all points in time o_O

watch back to the future, it creates another timeline! and you wouldnt dissapear as you are in a different timeline....

Marty started to disappear in one of them because his mum and dad didn't get together. Think it was the first one.

but who'd stop the grandfather then ?

You'd disappear the instant the grandfather died. Not before. Same if grandfather killed himself

apparantly if u had a time machine you could only go back to the time when u made the time machine, however, this aside, id definatly go back to when rape was legal. discuss.

surely time would correct itself? ie your "grandfather" might die but the milkman lives on w00t! :worthy:

Why would time correct itself ? I don't think so.

You've already violated space/time by 'going back in time' so suffer the consequences you shall. I don't believe space-time re-orders itself to balance itself out. Example: black holes. At the centre of a black hole is a phenomenon known as a singularity: a 'region' of infinite density infinitessimly small. Anyway, I'm no expert. But interesting nonetheless.

what do black holes have to do with time travel? :p

i read an interesting book about black holes once called the Iron Sun, the guy who wrote it had plans to build his own one and travel out into space with it :eek7:

they crop up in TT discussions because of its ability to stop light escaping it.

starting to get out of my league here, but i remember hearing something about objects nearing the center of a black hole having a quantum probability of 0 - meaning that they effectivly cease to exist and so basically "time" stops for that object.

could be wrong though of course! :)
