Now to to put you in the picture this is something that happened to me earlier today and made think about my role as a scout.
Group of mids at amg ,group of albions port it to emain buff up and head towards the gate being a scout as i approach the gate i stealth and get into a good sniping position.As expected within a few minutes the mids pass through amg and attack my group leaving a trail of dead bodies all exept me who was still standing firing.Knowing i dont stand a chance in hell against a full group,I stealth and move away to a safe spot to rest.Then move back to apk to await the next port.
While moving back to apk i get flamed to shit over group chat why didnt you die like the rest of us why is it you seem to survive all the time,if your in our group pull your weight or your out.
Am i wrong to want to live?Am i not aloud to use stealth when in a group? Should i just run in and die to keep the group happy?Please can someone explain to me what i did thats so wrong.
Just to add to this i did take out 2 mids before i stealthed away.

I dont often swear, but thats bullshit.

Not only did you take 2 out, you stayed alive, which means you can keep track of their movements. Any group that has a problem with that, isnt worth sticking with <shrugs>

tbh it all depends on the situation, but what I understand from reading you would just've given away free rps, better to stealth away then.

I agree stealthers aren't exspected to charge in, but I do get a little annoyed when I see people holding back to see if the situation is going there sides way and if it's not... lookie at them run away.

.... Then get cut down, running home to mumma.

there are really 2 situations to compare.

1:
You do your job. you scout, you get in position, and start firing when the time is right. If they die, you still did your part, and can then scout until your group is back, or possibly get a rezzer.

2:
you hang back, stay stealthed, hesitate to fire when the time is right, and then wander off with 2000 realm points, alot of arrows, and 7 dead group mates you might have been able to save.


If the case is 1: you did right. if you get abuse, leave.

if the case is 2: you did wrong. if you get abuse, you probably need to change your ways a little :)

Well as a ranger I'd say you did right. Firstly you're there scouting, secondly you took 2 out. If they didn't listen to your reports of the inc then they're not using their head, just trying to zerg their way out. If you didn't give adecent report & then they ran in then that's a big no no.

Stealthers have the wonderful option of moving out of direct line of sight beofre the battle begins - actually everyone could do it if they weren't in zerg mode - & as people usually only hit what's infront of them then they die less. It's called tactics, you used them, your group mates seem to have forgotten what they are.

I don't see the point in dying needlessly. Why give the enemy any more advantage? If they moan at you find some people with more than the 'rush in & die' mentality to group with.

Of course you did the right thing, happens to me alot too. Haven't been flamed for it yet though ;)

I find an other situation worse though, and I usually feel bad when it happens. But when I'm in a group fight and I get 1+ tanks on me and none of my group mates is on him, I _have_ to run, otherwise I'm dead in seconds. So I usually sprint a bit to loose him, he turns to chose an other target and I can get back to the fight. It happens quite often that my group gets wiped before I get back/while I'm on the run so then there is no point in not stealthing away and hiding. I usually feel bad when it happens but there isn't much to do :)

I think the problem is that the only alternative for tanks is to run into the mess and hack away with their swords, so many tanks don't really know what happens in the back lines of a fight, and thus shouldn't really blame archers for things like this.

Go with the good old "I don't tell you how to play your class so please don't tell me how to play mine" ;)

Stealthers survive, it's a fact of life, only the bad ones and zerg newbies (Read as people who play a stealther but suck too bad to solo so just run round with the group leeching RPs and probably don't even have stealth on the quickbar anymore) die with the group.

If they whine at you again tell them this, it's your right to survive after you had such a hard time xp'ing up as a stealther and that you'll quite happily leave the group, leave them scoutless and farm rps solo if they don't stop whining.

Stealthers can and do solo, your group should've been glad you survived to report on the next movements of the enemy ready for when they come back. If they're not leave them to learn the hard way that by scouting and surviving you're doing them the favour.

Nice screenshot, although, I've seen SBs and Hunters do the same, even us Hibs have fgs of stealthers out there sometimes. Very few assasins travel alone nowadays, usually in at least twos, which is nice, cos then I can have two lots of free rps instead of one :p

Still not really anything to complain about, 1fg stealthers maybe lame but still not as lame imo as 10fg mages/fighters.

You'll find a lot of the zergfiltrators extremely poorly kitted out, when I was duoing with a lvl46 shade once the two of us took out a group of _5_ yes 5 yellow con to 50 infiltrators (some were lvl50. I find 90% of the infiltrators out there nowadays have like 0% melee resists so drop in about 5 styles. I'm not sure if it's the fact they have more HPs or they're just better kitted out (Or better buff bots :p) but SBs definetely seem much harder to kill than Infs. Still, that's the price Infs pay for powerlevelling to 50 without putting any time and effort into kitting their class out.

ive been jumped by 5-6 SBS many times coming from apk and (stupidly) taking a shortcut through the righthand treeäs ... BAM toast /release

Granted ive been in many stealth grps :) ... once it was 7 infi and 1 friar (hey stafford ;)) .. think i got some sfcreenies of those.. will look into it ;)

guess its quite a dilemma for stealthers, but tbh, it can be _really_ annoying if _everytime_ grp dies (has happened alot =/), u see one grey name in miniscreen, the sb/hunter, especially if the turn out could have been different if the sb/hunter didnt back off mid-fight

its not about telling others how to play their class, for me its, stick with the grp, work with the grp and die with grp, or dont be in the grp

but i guess our views is like the arse, split :p

I have also seen you join a group often to get buffs and then you leave the group thinking (stupidily on your part) that you will keep those buffs.


However, I have played for a long time and when you dump my group ..I take your buffs off you darlin :)

So why don't you stop leeching rp's off your group and act like a real group memeber ?
