Not attending school. Not even bothering to ask about college.

I'd love to go to college, then to uni. I wouldn't be stuck as a fucking removal man now. I'm 18 and i've had like, 18 jobs. Sad

Honestly, that's f*cking great and i WISH i'd done that at 18.

Those 18 jobs come in handy later on, it's a ton of experience in a ton of fields, you honestly are in a much better position then some uni kid trying to "chace the ultimate dream".

In my opinion, nothing sad about it.

Well, yeah. Some of them have give experience, but others havn't. How hard is it to stack shelves? :(

Then again what 17 year old has an apprentiship in dry lining and external walls? Good job, then it fell through :(

at 18 with 18 jobs, your well set imo, and as for collage/school/uni, at 18 you have plenty of time and oportunity to change that if your unhappy with your current situation.

collage/uni only really becomes an issue at 30-35+ imo,
and the reason i say that is, if your only beginning at that age you have to consider the amount of time it takes,

lets say your 35, so firstly highschool/collage thats 2 years, then add at least 3 years for a bachelor so thats 5, now 2 more for your cand. so thats 7 years total, this means you'll be 42 and without any job experience what so ever within your field. and chance are you'll find it hard to convince an employer to pick you.
but once thats siad, I'd never advise someone to "not do it" odd isnt it ?

depends what job your going in for i think. people on my course who are pushing 40+ with kids and their own business and what not. only problem is there is another 2 years training after the degree, which im not sure they factored in :) will make the oldest near on 50 by the time hes getting full pay.

aye, very true, even me old dad is 63 and he's just now going for his phd, has his own firm,

my point was more aimed at a situation where you are at ground zero at an age of 30+ it dose present well, lets call them issue's to be considered.

Never too late bud. There are plenty of ways of getting into uni via access courses or doing a-levels througha college in night courses or the like. Don't think it's too late until you're about to retire ;)

I've always found that people that go to college as mature students tend to do better. Probably because they actually realise they want to be there to learn and get a more interesting job having seen the alternative.
Most people that go straight from school tend to be going because they feel they have to, not because they want to, and so never get the full benefit from it.

I can't think of anything i'd have changed so far as i've been lucky enough to cover up/rectify any mistakes I have made.

But If I had to really rack the brain, I'd say not getting into mmorpgs and recking a lot of my social life between 12-15. Dread to think of all the spin the bottle games etc. I missed out on.

well... regret saying: its too late to change or i can do it tomorrow. regretting is usually (like bugz example) a dream of the past. its 3 years of your life and i hope (even though it is bugz) that you live to at least 70. you got shitloads of years to kick back and spin a bottle and socialize. i hope you met some people you still talk to and you learned something useful in some way or another.
usually my actions (wrong or good) has lead to alot of things which i wouldnt have wanted to be without (again, good or bad).
if i had to pick i would be a general thing. to have started doing what i love alot earlier. have had interest since i was a kid (thanks to my brother - although you probably forgot i still remember the day!) but for some reason (laziness and insecurity i guess) i never did start on it untill late this year.

Bugz(and others) who think that social life at 12-15 means absolutely anything, believe me, you're not missing out on anything and probably are better off at playing a MMO then hanging out.

More then usual, that hanging about only causes trouble.

And you're future and REAL hanging out(meaning at the age of 20-23) when you really know yourself and the crowd you want to be with, means so much more to you then that silly youngster stuff, that even if at the young age it seems like "all that", when you grow up, it'll mean nothing at all. Absolutely NOTHING.

you're around 25 right? 20-23 means jack shit as well. you got plenty of time to socialize. there is no right age for socialize. its not like you're stuck with your social skills at 23 so you quickly need to develop them at 20-23.

Missed the point there.

I meant that at 20-23, you know who you like hanging about with, it's not just "belonging", you know what you prefer etc, what you're beliefs, social preferances are. And those usually stay for a long time, well to your old ages even.

And i'm around 28.

lol 12-15.

wait till you to get the 20s like seel brain said. its not spin the bottle anymore, its fuck your hot friend. its meeting random people and going random places on a whim.

12-15 is an imaginary freedom. sure you can sit in the streets or someones mother lets you all come and play PS2. its nothing really. only if youre lucky do you even keep the same friends from 12 yrs old till now. i dont think the real friends come till youre older and with real friends comes the real fun.

i dont think you missed out on anything.

reminds me of a time actually i played spin the bottle at someones house (age 14 or so). we were all a bit drunk but when it came to kissing someone else we were all squeemish. maybe you couldnt bare to kiss someone incase other people took the piss. it wasnt fun in the slightest. nowadays i dont play the spin bottle for that. now i grope my female friends whenever i wish or we play pass the ice cube where you stick it in your mouth and tongue the next person to pass it on.

nah well my point was that its not which period is important its that after it you think it was the most important or that you missed out on some stuff

...when actually you didn't miss anything at all.

I agree on that, though i was talking about the whole, "teenager" phase being the most useless part of life.

Basically it's just a "f*ck up" phase, in which case, you are very well better off playing games :D

I don't know if I'd want to change something in the past or not tbh.

Chances are, changing an event in my past would change the person I am now. Although I've made mistakes and done some stupid things, I still kinda like the person I've grown into over the years...

There's only one thing really missing in my life atm but that's another topic...

Hmm not really sure that I regret anything..

Sure daoc took alot of my freetime years ago, but I had fun, met/get to know alot of different ppl, ppl to who I still talk to daily, weekly.. So don't really regret daoc.

Perhaps quitting the scouts/chiro/youthmovement? (I have no clue whats it called in english) at a young age. And now I see how much fun it actuelly is :)

but no real regrets, my life is fine

I wish I had put some more effort into bowling (tenpin bowling that is), entering competitions instead of just leaving it as a hobby.

The opportunity to enter competitions aimed at younger people (under 18s, under 24s) doesn't last forever. It's one of the things I'm good at, I probably would've had a decent chance in the young adults category. Now I'm just a bit too old! :p
