If you could turn back time...

Which era would you like to go back and live in? (or even visit for a while)

...which decade would you go back to live in?

I have been watching the TV series 'Life on Mars' again today which is set in early 1970's Manchester and it left me feeling really nostalgic, even though I was only born in 1975 the early 70's looked like a really fun time to be around. The music was generally great, the clothes and hairstyles were pretty naff and the football was awesome. :D

So, I thought I would make one of these dumb ass polls that seem to be very flavour of the month right now and see what era captures everyone elses imagination.

90's when dance music was good :p Would have loved to have gone to an illegal rave or ibiza when it wasn't so trashy.

Been there, done that, took the drugs and wore the T-shirt. :D The whole music and dance scene was awesome, the rest of the decade sucked though in many ways. Will never forget being smashed off my tits on acid at warehouse rave in Salford listening to 808 State and having some bird (no idea who she was, never spoke to her or saw her again) kneeling down performing unspeakable acts on me with 1000's of people walking around not giving a shit. :D

Definitely the 1950s

The best music and the most stylishly amazing automobiles

...But realistically, I'd go back a few weeks and make sure I win the lotto:p

No going back for financial gain, that spoils the whole spirit of the thread! I wanted to know what era interests people most, not how they can fuck with the space time continuum and cause temporal paradoxes just to make money in the present ;)

No more nights at Peach either - they turned the Palace into some indie/pop venue, even had Madonna playing there about a year ago IIRC :(

Then again, it was kinda out of hand that place. Looking back I often wonder how the fk they got away with it lol :D

1650-1750, pirate era, before they mapped whole world ofc... or the mid 1800 where the adventures were in Africa and Asia, would have loved to be one those people.

I voted 1940s

As I believe living in that period would be an experience.

Having true "heroes" to follow, a proper "enemy" and the possibility of being alive to witness VE day.

There are more reasons but at its most basic, thats what I think.

in case of usage of force i guess bouncers are on the same level as "civillians". if he did harm him brutally i guess you could press charges...

My destination would probably be back to ancient Greek or Roman era. Maybe during Alexander the Great's campagne or the expansion of Rome :)

The time of the Crusades would also be cool.

he went to punch him, after he barged past my friend, he obviously said careful, then the bouncer got lippy, and told us to leave, so we said we will round every one up and leave, was like 20 of us, 4 of us were standing in that spot, i was sober at the time anyway. After that he walked off, friend said at least he walked, next thing we know he is ontop of him trying to hit him, 2 of us grabbed him then he forced us to door, i got dragged off by another bouncer and elbowed in throat, then when i complained he nearly broke my arm to remove me from the door.. infront of police who basically said oh well you cant do shit, i have big fuckoff marks on my arm, he has bruises on his too. So, any one doing law with some advice?

I voted other, simple reason. First of all I would never want to turn back the time forever, cause even if wrong and bad things happened, there was always nice things and especially people I met and who became friends.

Wouldn't it be an insult to these people if I told them I'd like to turn back the time? Yes, some things are waster, but not everything was as useless as it sometimes seemed to be =)

Well, so that leave us to the "visit another time" option. I think I'd like to visit the celts, cause they're a culture that fascinates and inspires me a lot. Also there is virtually nothing known of their lifestyle so it would be like plounging into a completely different world. I guess their life was rather hard, but ours isn't easy either if you think of it.

If I had the ability to turn back time, I should also be able to go forward in which case I would like to go to 2106 to see what advances humans had made and have a go on the playstation 25 ;d
