Depends on the size of the impacting meteor and where it landed of course.
If you're on the opposite side of the world, then you might survive the initial blast (ultraviolet radiation, ionizing gamma and xray radiation, initial heat pulse and fireball). Thats about it. If we're talking about a meteor large enough to wipe out mankind, then you'd probably be hit by the blast wave, which would go round the world at speeds of 100,000 miles per second with a temperature approaching the surface of the sun. Assuming you were wearing a high factor sun cream and survived that, then you'd have to survive the 5 km high tidal waves that would go round the entire globe. Assuming you had a rubber ring on, and you passed your bronze certificate in swimming, then apart from minor inconveniences such as earthquakes, eruptions of all the worlds volcanos, a 1000-year nuclear winter, all life on earth being wiped out, then who ya gonna play DAOC with ?
