Ideas for RVR improvements?

OK so the 'How could your characters be improved' thread is slipping down the board and people have put in some interesting ideas. Now how do you think general rvr could be improved at all? Sensible ideas and no crap like NERF HIBS/MIDS/ALBS!!!1 or complaining about zergs.


I personally think ladders for keep raids would be fun, yep assasins can have their climb points but craftable ladders to invade the keeps for tanks would be another twist for defenders to worry about, and maybe make lord rooms more accessible as it is pretty clear that pbaoe defense, while almost inpenetrable is also pretty boring and causes most attackers to not bother instead of urging them to retake the keep.

Well one thing i thought was missing from DAOC when i moved here from UO... the ability to not be able to run through players.. in the PvP area of UO, you cannot move straight through players like you can here or in the non PvP area on UO. This was our tactic when PvPing to protect the mages, have the tanks in front to stop the other teams tanks from getting through to our mages, forming a roadblock... I know it will never be done here.. but seems kinda silly people running through a wall of people to get to the weaker classes against melee.

Keeps most have some bigger importance, I mean it should give you something rewarding defeding/taking a keep sucessfully, make them somehow give rp when defending/taking, now its just not really worth it. Cmon lets face it all of the RvRers out there do it for rp/fun, and now as it is today you can get mor rp running around in emain instead of taking/defending a keep.

Might be hard to code or something but, with the 1.53 guards will tell in guildchat if a keep is own by a guild that how many enemies killed the guard, so perhaps with the help of that they could somehow check when all attackers are dead, the defenders in a certain radius within the keep get a rp bonus.

SOmething similar for the attackers should be done.

Here's a piece of my RvR improvements list:
- Get rid of (castable) stun!! I could live with a short-duration shield stun, but no 9sec castable stuns please.
- The following idea is actually something that was going to be implemented in the final game according to the dev team during an early beta stage: give players the possibility to hire NPC's (guards) in certain frontier area's. I've started thinking about this, and maybe this would give a nice lil twist to RvR. If players would have the possibilty to hire a limited amount of guards to accompany them, it would perhaps encourage people to patrol these area's more when they are alone or in small groups. These guards could be payed with bounty points perhaps, since I don't think there's anyone who actually spends all his bp on potions...

I think that the payback in changing classes in RvR is small as a nerf or improvement on 1 class will ALWAYS result in some people being happier and some people being disappointed. I recon the biggest improvement to be made in RvR would be to provide more variety and depth.

Some examples would be:-

1. To have added extras within the terrain in the frontiers like villages that can be laid seige on, protected like keeps or act as a refuge for people of that realm. Also other places to hide or help with tactics like caves, mines, even tree houses in Hib and a dwarf mine in Mid etc!!! ;)
Watch towers and other battlements would also add abit of spice I recon too, and you could take these like we would a keep to be controled by your realm.

2. I think there could be soo much more done with siege equipment than now. Cornells idea of crafting ladders is a good one, and why not be able to craft other more usable pieces of siege equipment like a special keep weapon you could attatch to a designated place on a keep?

Some of this stuff may be abit tough to do but I recon it would be cool ;) Plus I got nothing better to do at work!!! :D

Well, ive mentioned some of the idea's before and wyleia has said a bit about it, but daoc should really try taking some of the idea's from Ultima Online, its a olde game and i did leave it to go here, but the pvp part of UO is superior to any game, including this and i dont give to shits what anyone says! There is soooooooooo much more to pvp in UO than in daoc, which is why i have pals in UO that have been pvping there for 5 years!! I don't think most people could rvr in this game for over 1 year!

There isn't much depth into rvr in this game and they need to add alot more interesting things to it, like wyleia said, the whole not being able to "walk through" someone is a good thing, i also think guilds should be able to war enemy realm guilds in which they can battle it out with only them, and noone else can kill ya kinda thing. I also think there should be lots of tournements etc, either duels or large battles in which winners recieve unique weapons or statue in a town of the person or guild in which everyone passing through cotswold would see. I also agree with other people saying that keep taking should have more benefits in which people get RP's or something that is going to be of benefit to people.

The game has a lot of potential but, unless Mythic and everyone else to do with the game do something to keep everyone interested, alot of people are going to leave for SWG, earth and beyond and the warcraft one.
