Iceland Airwaves

Yay, I'm going to the Iceland Airwaves festival in sunny...uh....Iceland! Any Icelandic Freddies in the house? I will be there from the 11th till the 20th of October and will even have a car (even though that's hella expensive o0)

Anyone got any tips? Currently the plan is to see a bit of the back country, lounge about in the blue lagoon, drink lots of coffee in Reykjavik, sample the nightlife and see if I can chat up a nice Icelandic girl

me too, that's about 75% of the reason to go there, with the music festival being an added boon. I'll bring you back some nice pics

I'm well aware of the beer pricings though, so I'll have to check what I can bring in with me. I suppose the people do much like (say) the Danes. Last I was in Copenhagen it was (surprisingly) sunny and the 7/11's got stormed for cold beer, price of a six-pack being less than one half-liter on the terraces

When I go I want to do this. Read about it last year, and if it wasn't for the whole Ireland move (and cost), I'd have done it this summer. Maybe next year.

reading that site I note that most of the people working at DIVE are not native Icelanders, meaning that at some point the foreigners visited the island and got hooked. I wonder if it will happen to me

If you're a single fella its supposed to be great. Very, erm, welcoming. I had a mate at Uni who used to go there every summer to work in a fish processing plant (fucking horrible, but he got paid a fortune), and he used to rave about the nightlife.

so I've heard. I certainly won't mind being welcomed weatherwise it won't be all that great, but with the music festival I have some hopes of being shown around town by some nice folk

I'd not mind the Galapagos either. I also want to go to Easter Island, the Seychelles and the Maldives, but especially the Seychelles.

Mate of mine did Iran last year, said it was great. I've still got loads of places I want to see; Japan, Tibet, Alaska, Borneo, Micronesia (I want to dive all the Japanese WWII wrecks off Truk), and there's still a load of Eastern Europe I haven't seen.
