IC Gibs website is now open!!

Thought id post to pimp my new gaming community site. After many failed attempts at creating something for the gaming community over the past few months ive finally created something that I hope will be of some use/benefit to online gamers.

Brief description of the site:

Created to act as a resource for online gamers by providing a place where the community can upload their demos/scripts/configs/post news/post reviews/use forums and create links. The way the site has been designed is so that ANYONE who registers for an account can post news and demos/configs etc. To avoid obvious problems with people posting inappropriate/irrelevant material each and every submission is first checked by one member of the Admin Team.

One of the features ive had a lot of encouraging feedback about is the Clan Site directory located in the links section. At present there are only a handful of links to clan sites, however as any registered user can add a link to their clan’s site, it should (im hoping) develop into a large database of clan sites.

This site is very much designed to be a resource created for the community by the community. I specifically didn’t want any submissions (be it news or downloads) to be limited to the Admin Team only, everyone has an opportunity to be heard.

The Admin Team:

The following group will be the admin team for this project, they have admin rights for all website and forum contributions. I am extremely grateful for their interest in helping me run this site, I only hope that the site can live up to the expectations we all have J

Meatcleaver – Senior Admin
Rushie - Admin
Watson – Admin
Genghis - Admin
Wilco3D – Admin & Head Gfx Guru

Each member of the team will make a post at some point to introduce themselves.

As you can imagine we are DESPERATE for feedback, absolutely anything, as long as its critical ;p I am aware of the text being a bit too small and am working on that atm.

One final request; IC Gibs is looking for forum moderators, at present we’re looking for 1 very dedicated individual ;p if the forums prove successful (which we are rather unsure of) we would be looking for a forum moderation team of 4 people. If your at all interested please leave your contact details (irc room / e-mail addy), we WILL contact every1 that states an interest.

I have to be harsh, because when he [cross]posted before, he responded to much of the cricism by claiming that his site would offer something new... Rather unfoundec claims, considering all he offers is some news, broken later than most of the real news sites.

My site has its GFX person no thanks to some people on here

it aint ready for the launch yet. but when it is I am sure you will still abuse it shockingalberto. but thats to be expected.

i am also sure that you will use it too at some point because it will be a useful resource.

<pimp>Yarn.net</pimp> uses Postnuke as well, but at least I bothered my arse to make it look half decent (imo) with a custom skin (or three) I did to make the site look individual.

BTW ICGibs is as slow as feck too, you might want to see about getting a decent host, one that offers free MySQL hosting to save you on those charges which force you to seek sponsorship for the site only 3 days after it opens its doors....

Oh and I run Yarn.net by myself, so why ICGibs needs quite so many ppl in charge is beyond me.

All in all the site needs some serious work put into it yet, and not only on content.

Yeah, T2 clan came about when a few Q3F'ers wanted to play that too, afaik they don't play Q3F much anymore, but we still see them now and again.

I really can't see the problem here. The guy wasn't being abusive nor talking in 1337 114M4 language, and worded the post constructively. Yeah, sure it was a thread set up indirectly for advertising, but he requested feedback more than anything else.

If you felt it should have been aimed at news rather than Forums, a few stating the fact would have been fine; it's no excuse to go blurting out calling him an "utter twat"... grow up, ffs; this isn't an elitist-based forum and I hope it won't turn into one.
