this was at the bottem of "News from the Front" under "Next Dispatch"

"Thick smoke rises from Black Fire Pass and the Badlands alike, choking out the air from every crevice as the ruthless battle between the Bloody Sun Boyz and The Oathbearers rages on. Even with the aid of all of their allies on both sides, the victor is impossible to foretell. The WAR has come to a climax as mighty guilds are called upon from near and far to aid in the mighty storm! Read about the latest developments in the next issue of News From the Front!"

Looks promising any1 heard any thing elce about Guild beta?

It's a bit of an unknown i think. Personally im not 100% certain there will be a Guild Beta and if there is, it might be right at the end before early access.

i also thought that when i saw the guilds message, also something else play.com said that all codes will be delivered by july 1st. Why july 1st, a very definite date - almost as if the open beta is soon.

1-2 weeks for the guild testing then open beta maybe? They really have to get it out 1-2 months before WotLK just to get people hooked or they are prob going to loose about 50%+ of there player base. People are leaving AoC fast, they need something to go to why not WAR?

But thats just my thoughts ;)

They really should do something about the guild beta. Many guilds signed up for this in the hope that they'd eventually see something.

The sign up for this was in April 2007, 14 months ago! I know the plan for WAR has changed a lot since then, but I think many people got fed up of waiting for so long.

This is the big problem with regards to the guild beta, many of those who signed-up might have simply lost interest and to make it work they might have to accept applications all over again.

yeah but many will probably just log in to see whats up and then go back to AoC, which afaik were the game Mythic were "competing" against on releasing first, now they have to fight with Wraith of the Lich King, and i don't think that's gonna help them one bit.

if WAR release after wotlk its gonna hurt i think.

most ppl i've talked to with regards on what game to play have said "it depends what game/expansion release first, me included...

Those most ppl have horrible way to choose games, would they buy Vanguard if it was released now but still as shitty as it was?

Anyhow, think i will be totally shocked if the guild beta actually starts.

From my understanding, Guild Beta is a confirmed stage. But no confirmed date yet.
I believe it will be the last stage before Open beta. Open beta has been hinted(almost confirmed) as 2-4 weeks before retail, I am going to guess Guild beta will be 2 weeks before open beta.

It wont be a long process because as soon as open beta is in place, new guilds will pop up everywhere and will be testing all the ingame guild functions and everything else that mythic support during open beta anyways.

There is still massive testing to be done yet. The graphics levels need to be upped, lighting and textures finished, final classes to be tested (Blackguard anyone? 10 months old now!), Possibly the XML support if they are going to allow that on retail release, might be a patch later..

I bet we still got 2 months before guild/open beta. /lays down a $50 monopoly note

The popular theory is the game might be released sometime around September, so you might not be far off.

As far as im aware, the only stage of pre-release they are obliged to provide is Early Access for those who have paid for it. Anything else is entirely up to the development team.

Who says there will be an open beta 2-4 weeks before release? Thats news to me. Have they confirmed there will even be an open beta?

Open beta as in NDA lifted not as in "everyone can play for free" - they've confirmed this will exist since a pre-order of a collectors edition gets you into it ;)

How long it lasts is of course entirely up to them but Mark Jacobs said on WHA:
As to NDAs, the rule I've always gone by is my "time before release rule" in order to judge the confidence the publishers have in their new game (doesn't apply to ports or games that are already out in other places). I add a +1 for every week prior to release that the game's NDA has been lifted and come up with a score. If <4, there's a lack of confidence in the product, if you are >8, they really believe in the game. WoW had a great score (the highest I believe) and some of the MMOs that failed, had, as expected, low scores. A score of 4 is just about the minimum you should expect from a MMO publisher.

Increasing Amount of NDA breaks = Worrisome. - Page 4 - Warhammer Forums

I very much doubt it'll be less than 4 weeks of NDA-free beta.

Yeah from Marks post you basically can assume a non-NDA beta period of at least four weeks. Which IMO is a good thing.
