Hello and a happy new year.

I was just sent Comanche 4 as a gift.(only my 2nd PC game)
I install it and then click 'start comanche4'...my hourglass pops up for about10-15 seconds but the game won't start.
My computer doesn't crash, but the game won't start.
If i pressCtrl-Alt-Del i can see 'C4' on my list...strange

I thought it was my video card so i went out and bought an ATI Radeon VE 32 MB, DDR, 2x/4x
I believe i have the newest drivers and DirectX8.1 comes with the game

someone PLEASE HELP...anyway possible is much appreciated

You went out and bought a new GFX card because 1 game locked up on launch?

You're either very stupid or very rich.

Or possibly both.

Tried seeing if there was a known problem with the game, or a patch available, or even rebooting and running the game again?

More likely, it is a fault when it runs with the certain card. Like some games dont work on Radeon cards, without a patch. So go to their webby and see if there is a known fault, chances are, you aint the only person having the problem:D

Guys, the Radeon was the replacement card he went and bought when it refused to run first time on his original card (whatever that may have been, and if it was a GF brand card I think I shall openly weep).

i had a generic chipset for games, no card - its my first

i checked for patches, nothing


if it is the card, can u reccomend one in the 100 range

Ahh, well in that case my apologies.

I'll fwap you instead for getting a mobo with an onboard gfx chip ;)

Well the Radeon should do you ok for a while, it's just not the best card you could have got for the money (That would be a GeForce 3).

I'd stick with the Radeon rather than splashing out more just atm.

didnt see the gf3 at the store, but isnt that like 200?
i aint got that much..not now at least

my radeon 32 ddr is "supposed" to be compatible with comanche4

my specs are 800mhz p3, 128 mb


do you know of another forum here at barry's that might be able to help

Er, nope.

It was under threat at the start of 2001, but it was bought over by Electronics Boutique, and ever since, the likes of Bigfoot have had to wear EBs name across their chests when running leagues and adminning.

Why don't you try a game with similar system specs to Commanche 4? If it works, then it's probably the C4 disc. Or something. :/

Because both started out as individual companies and when EB took GAME it was a case of not wanting to upset customers . It also gives them a fair size of the market.

You do realise it's one of the best PC games of all time in some people's opinion and was voted Game of the year 1998 in over 50 publications, right? ;)
