I want to go to Paris, or somewhere, for the day, or weekend

Whats the best(cheapest) way to do it? I was looking at easyjet and.. I was under the impression you could get a cheap ticket there and back but it dosn't seem quite so simple. They're arranged so you have to pay a fortune for one of them.. how much should I be expecting to pay? I always hear about people getting really cheap flights..

ps. How longs it take to get a new passport if you've lost it? :p

2 weeks for a passport unless you do it in one day, which costs a ridiculous £107 - I know because I'm doing that on Tuesday :(

Where do you live - you could always get the Eurostar to Paris.

You won't be able to get the 1-day service for your passport if you've lost it. They have to make sure you didn't sell it on to a guy with a fez.

If you repeatedly lose it, they paddle you through customs naked and stamp BRITISH across your arse in henna.

:)

She walked past me in Sydney airport the other day. Skank tbh. As well as being a overpriviledged waste of oxygen.

Back on topic, Eurostar is best; both airports are miles out, plus getting out to Stanstead or Luton, so its worth the extra few quid on the train and its not a flying cattle truck, especially if you only want to do a day or two.

Check out Blackpool airport's website, Leeds/Bradford airport, and John Lennon Liverpool airport.

easyjet is only silly cheap if you go for the 'unpopular' flight times....ie-crack of dawn or late at night.
Ryanair just seems to be more amenable in general....and less orange!

if you want to go somewhere other than paris id also recommend amsterdam for a highly cultured day or two.
though i believe the airport isnt that close to the centre :\
there is a hostel there though so its likely if you flew there, you could probably stop in there too.

On topic, you could drive to Hull (about 1hr 1/2) and get a ferry to Amsterdam overnight. I went a few years ago and it was quite cheap. It's not a pleasure cruise (i.e. not that posh and it's the North sea which can be a bit bumpy) but it's a pretty laid back way to get there.

cheers

last time i came home via that route it was so choppy it felt like being at that stage of pissed where you cant walk straight and constantly on the verge of falling over, at some points everyone was being thrust about the place. i enjoyed it mind, but be warned :)

I suppose you have to weigh it up against spending 1 1/2 hours with some kid banging the back of your seat and your knees up by your ears eating cheese and crackers!

I don't enjoy flying at the best of times so it's worth considering.

I'm trying to find a quick way to sail to Florida that's not going to cost an arm and a leg but it's hard...

If you told us what you wanted to get out of your trip that would help people with suggestions.

Do you want clubs or art, theatre or booze? etc etc etc.

Paris is an overpriced shithole btw.

Berlin/Prague/Amsterdam/Cologne/Tallin/Riga/Copenhagen/Vienna in that order.

I'd have put Amsterdam at no 1 for you but you won't be getting laid anytime soon so moved it to 3rd ;)

go to amsterdam, it's cheap(ish) and if you walk past a museum on the way to the pub you can always claim some culture rubbed off on you. also if you read up on your classic painters beforehand you will impress the gf no end and then she may do something nice to take your mind off pining for the internet.

or

pretend to be a romantic and spend a little more dosh and take her to paris. there she'll be all romanced and stuff and impressed with your worldly ways, knowledge of fine wines and croissants, and may do something nice to take your mind off pining for the internet.
