admittedly most of them were given to me by people getting 'better' machines. But I knew better and clung on to them.

Self respected IT working person.

Everybody I work with preferes AMD chips.

I accept that in the past they have had problems, but since the Duron and Athalon chips, they have performed consistently better than the Intel Chips (and more stable imho).

I run both Intel and AMD at home, and only the intel chips have given me problems.

Athlon 700 bought in August 2000 or thereabouts. Stuck with it for a year cos I couldn't afford to change it, then bought my current P4-1.9Ghz system.

After a year of BSODs and system crashes I cannot impress on you enough how fucking fantastic it is to use a PC now and have not seen a single BSOD or system crash in over 2 months.

the only one I have problems with is the PIII 450

The rest are fine (yes including the intel). this may be due to operating system however.

Who knows. I just prefer AMD
