So today I had my wisdom teeth extracted, all 4. The previous week I decided to have it done local. Which basically means, they just numb me and do it instead of knocking me out. It started out pretty fine, just the initial sting of the needle as the numbed me which was to be expected. After 5 mins both top teeth were out and on to the bottom he went. He explained what he was doing as he did it, " first im going to cut your gum and then use a drill to cut the tooth in half, than pull each piece out." but hell, I was numb so Im like this cant be to bad? Mistake, the left bottom tooth came out pretty easy, just quite a bit of pressure on the jaw. And being a little scary with a drill buzzing loudly. And than off to the bottom right. After he cut the came he pulled what seams to be some pliers and tried pulling, without success, on came the drill. As he started drilling I felt what was most likely the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. So after I screamed and jerked up, he was dumbfounded about it.. go figure. So numbing it some more he started drilling even more. this time the pain was even worse.. The doc than told me that to get it out, he was just going to have to make one last drill and asked if I could hang on tight for him, and he tried numbing some more. He finished the last drill and I could feel the tears all over the towel that was over my face, that intense. So he pulled out the last bit which felt like a hammer to the jaw and it was done. So now im hyped up on good pain killers, and have a pretty gruesome story for the future I guess.

Anyone else have some like stories during this kind of surgery, or any other kind.

ive all my wisdom teeth. I doesnt have to let pull em out. As i was young dunno 13-14 i needed retainers. Me dentist wisdomly told my mother that he will pull 4 molars to make space for the wisdom teeth when they comes out. He pulled 2upper molars, 1left and 1right and 2 down molars 1left and right. I got retainers to correct my teeth and alot of space for the wisdom teeth.

if i ever have kids i think ill let do em the same. Pulling out molars is much less painfull tbh i didnt noticed it realy than pulling out Wisdom teeth.

so Get well soon!

some friends of me got pulled their wisdom teeth out too, and i know its not funny.

I had all my wisdom teeth pulled also, well not really pulled as they had to cut them in half and pull both halves as my wisdom teeth (well 2 of them) were basically on their side or something.
Most annoying thing I found the needle stings for the anesthetics and the smell of something burning when the dentist was drilling and there's ofc this crack sound when the tooth gets pulled out.
Also it's kinda shit that you can't eat untill the wounds heal because if you only have 1 wisdom tooth pulled then you can still chew with the other side of your mouth but with all 4 at once your on liquid food for a day or two :)

i had mine out under general anaesthetic. was in the pub and playing football the next day. Liquid food for a few days then moving onto bread with a little butter on which sucked, best burger ever after a week on that shit though.

Plenty of stitches to the gum and inside of my cheeks (no idea why they had to cut my cheeks) but they eventually dissolved.

Worst bit was when they said they had given me a suppository while i was under. Fit nurse though so meh

I had my first ever fillings yesterday, that was the worst i have had, i have a phobia of dentists as it is but when she started grinding away at my tooth it was just nasty. absolutely helpless knowing if i move it will just make it worse.

That sounds so painful. I got lucky. I got punched in the face, and they all fell out! :(

When they took my wisdom teeth about 3 years ago out they did make a bit of a meal of it. At the time I noticed a small lump on the roof of my mouth
so i had to go back again a short while after because they wanted to make sure it wasnt a problem as I was due to have my bone marrow transplant a few weeks after. They cut all round the roof of my mouth peeled it all back and kept poking and prodding and the dude doing it got about 3 more dudes to peer into my mouth and then they just scraped it and filed it down yanking my head all over the place. then they put the skin back and stitched me up. It turned out it was just normal bone anyway :( all that fer nuffin :/
One funny thing about it was my missus was waiting outside in the hospital and when they went out and asked for Peter's escort she didnt understand that they wanted her she assumed there was a dude called Peter Sescort. As english isnt her first language [she is French] we are used to this type of thing. I had to give them her name and she came running :) ...Ohh how we chuckled :D :D course it mighta been the drugs :/

Well I've had two nasty trips to the local hospital which I clearly remember. First time was when I was about 12 or so. I had managed to push my fist through a glass door. And the stupid doc decided to clean my wound with medical grade alcohol which is like 96,6% or something. Hurt pretty bad.

Second time I had a collapsed lung, a so called phneumathorax (spelling?). And they had to put in a sort of valve to clear the air out. And they used a bit of anesthesia and commenced cutting. And after a few seconds I actually felt an intense pain. Which resulted in more anesthesia.

Probably not that horrible. But if you expect it not to hurt after the first dose of anesthesia it does make you somewhat nervous during the remaining time of the operation.

Luckily I've never had the need to pull out and teeth (yet?).

well i´v never experiensed a problem with my teeth in that way....but got a stone in my kidney about 2½ year ago , and u can prolly guess what way it had to come out.....yea i had to pee it out and that was the worst pain i´v ever had . The nurse that gave me the pain killers just before it came out said that u can compare it to giving birth to a child .

Ps : btw the stone was 8 x 12 mm in size

Ouchie story - feel for you bud. As we're being gruesome....

All 4 of my wisdom teeth were impacted so they all came out at once under general anaesthetic - a good move I think having read your pains! Funny thing was, straight after it I was fine, thought to myself "what's the big deal - this wisdom teeth thing is easy."

Then the anaesthetic wore off - holy f*ck it hurt. Swelling was down the next day and I was pretty good with food 2 days later.

Think I need to look after my teeth more - 12 fillings (and I have to have another one later this month) and 20 teeth out in total, baby ones and wisdom included ofc. Yet I brush twice a day and stuff so maybe I'm unlucky.

I've also knocked out my 2 front teeth in a bike accident - it's not funny spitting out what you assume to be gravel and seeing it's teeth, especially when you're fountaining blood from a torn lip (4 or 6 good stiches were needed on that).

I don't like dentists but, blimey, they seem to like me. :twak:

Enjoi!

Basically i had a glass coffee jar in my hand after a mouse had bit me because i like animal's, i do. We caught a mouse so i thought cool, i'll save the little fucker, picked it up in a newspaper and showed our little catch to a friend with a camera, the mouse didn't obviously like being so high bit my finger which led to me flinging the little sod into the garden, no more mr nice pet lover.

Second time we found a mouse i thought cool, fuck em all lets kill the bastard, so i toddled off into the kitchen where there was an old glass coffee jar, i picked it up. Having found the mouse i slammed the coffee jar down onto it, however, i missed. The little fuck then ran off the side of the worksurface and onto the floor now still holding the coffee jar i slammed it into the mouse who was no longer there however with the force that i slammed the jar into the floor it smashed with my hand following into the now cerrated glass, severing my tendon and causing lots of blood to gush out.

Two operations later my thumb no longer bends without me using my index finger to push it down, now that's a story.

Even if i am a complete fuckwit.

The smell and that cracking clicking noise is the worst tbh :(

My dentist had to cut open my gums cus my wisdom teeth where underneeth my gums. He had a real hard time with my bottom left one, my entire head went all over the place when he tried to pull it out. But i guess it's something that needed to be done.

Ps. Anybody who says he pulls out wisdomteeth without painkillers is either
a. talking bs
b. high as a kite when he is doing it
c. drunk as a donkey :D

Hope you heal well sav!

Just be happy that they were going for the teeth.. I'd much rather be drilled there (Heh, the tooth that needs to be filled hurts when I type this) than drilled in my happy area... =<
