With a new multi-project contract with Sony Entertainment UK, including a 5.1 Surround Sound remix, to spearhead a 2005 international re-launch, Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds is one of Sony Music's crown jewels in virtually every territory

I have upgraded my sound system at home with some really nifty speakers and a gorgeous and lovely sounding amp, so I decided to play one of my top ever albums, "The War of the Worlds". Oh, what an album, nothing has ever come close to making my skin tingle like this album.

Sounding absolutely stunning I decided to search for an enhanced recording and stumbled across the quote above. Woohoooo!

Here is more:

Since its first release in 1978 it has clocked up worldwide sales in excess of 12 million records. The re-launch project is a major priority both domestically and internationally, including the United States and will be backed by the full weight of Sony's marketing and PR expertise in every key territory.

Two other projects in development based on Wayne's musical work, include a major Theme Park attraction and a large scale multi-media live touring show, which will include some 20 minutes of animation from Wayne's CGI film.

Timed with the Sony re-launch in 2005 will also see the launch of the official 'The War of The Worlds' website, including full e-commerce capability. A wide variety of new and existing merchandise will be offered based on the original artwork from the double album, as well as a new comic book, and PC and Playstation computer games, which have already enjoyed commercial success, with new versions also planned.

Last month, Wayne's double CD of club renditions from TWOTW, ULLAdubULLA, unexpectedly reached No. 1 on Apple's iTunes album charts.

You been clicking those spammers links Deebs? I think this is the first non-admin thread you've made in a long time.

I like War Of The Worlds. It's good.

Hehe

Yeh I spose it is the first non-admin thread made in a long time. Guess my passion of high quality music won the day.

Yes, WofTW is a classic album which everyone should own! I never tire of listening to it and it really does stress a music system with all of its varied musical pieces.

Just need to find someone on these forums that work for a hifi retailer or even better a quality cable manufacturer.....

So ... what's your favourite track? Gotta love the one with Phil Lynott in, but Forever Autumn is surprisingly good for a Justin Heyward track...

What bits are you after deebs? Just today my brother confirmed im getting one of these for £50, retail is ~£250 Although reading your post at the top it seems your already set for speakers.

A word of advice from my brother proxy me - dont go too overboard on speaker/interconnect cables. Think about where the weakest link in your chain from media-speakers is and dont bother getting anyhting much better than that. So if you have a pair of £3 interconnects, spending £10/m on speaker cable is a) waste of money and b) a bit dim

Good speaker cable can be bought for £2/m or so made with oxygen free copper etc, also make sure the contacts on your speakers and the contacts on your amp are cleaned/corrosion free (back to weakest link).

Anyway...FIRE IT UP

I am after an Atacama Equinox AV stand. I need the additional shelf which brings the price to about £339 including delivery. Ouch :p

You know anyone that can help me?

Yeh, my interconnects are good quality, all OFC copper silver plated for maximum effiicency. Good quality speaker cable to!

I've loved WofTW ever since I first heard it. I'm sure someone I used to know had it on vinyl. I've had the double CD for years and listen to it every now and then.

No, but it will stabilise, level and secure a good hi-fi system. It will also reduce vibrations to prevent the build up of nasties within the delicate electronics of good equipment.

These things are, normally, welded like they are works of art.

Out of interest Deebs, what system have you got?

My separates are sitting on top of a £15 Ikea set of shelves. They sound fucking fantastic. If you spend the extra on a set of hi-fi shelves you're just proving what they say about a fool and his money....

It's more about the visual looks. Most shelving systems I have seen look utter pants and have no place in my house.

Well,

My main amp is now an Denon AVR-3085 which has just replaced an aging Yamaha DSP-a3090 which has done me proud for many many years.

Speakers have just been changed to the Mourdant Short Genie system (until I manage to get a detached house :p).

DVD Players is a Sony DVP s735d and my CD player is a Marantz CD-48. Speaker wire is Audio Innovations Ultra Micro.

Damn I miss having a detached house :p This morning my next door neighbours went out, so I ramped it up as loud as I dare and the subwoofer started moving across the wood floor :)

Soundwise, it was amazing, listened to Aero in DTS as a test. WOW!

Bodhi, as mentioned earlier, I am after the look and to have something I can sit my tv on. Ikea shelves won't work :p

Trust me, I don't want to spend the money but it looks gorgeous and is what I am after....

Oh. I was pissed when I wrote that, so probably didn't notice.

My bad.
