I need some good dictionaries

Ok, I got a question for all of the english people who work a lot with words.

I need a few english dictionaries which have to serve the following purposes:

- simple dictionary to look up exact spellings or meanings
- synonym dictionary
- style dictionary to look for specific expressions and figures of speech

I have an Oxford dictionary atm which is quite cool imo, but it lacks synonyms and figures of speech, so does anyone know if there is something from Oxford (or anything else, no idea) that matches my needs? =)

I need that stuff cause I study translations and one of my languages is English =)

What you need is a thesaurus which gives synonyms and antonyms.

Roget's Thesaurus
Fowler's Modern English Usage

That is pretty much the core of a proper English reference collection.

Blackwells also do a series of short style guides aimed at (allegedly) English speaking students. These would be especially useful for grammar and all those annoying words that sound alike but have different uses.
