If he isn't mentioned, don't count him in :p

you know, the cats could have fleas... more legs.
insects on the bus.
Hell, the bus could have legs painted on it ;)

Some of the fleas might be mutants. There might be one flea with 79 legs.

Crappy question really, obviously badly worded as well, probably (poorly) based on the old English riddle "As I was going to St.Ives..." which goes...

As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with 7 wives
Each wife had 7 sacks
In each sack was 7 cats
With each cat was 7 kittens
Kittens, cats, sacks, wives, how many were going to St. Ives?

Someone will hopefully work it out before tomorrow, if not i'll post the answer then :p

Thats the old school version, as only the man is going the answer is 1.

Funny how many forget the 7 backpack in the other if they wanna have them on the bus.

The riddle is flawed as there is no information wether the backpacks are on the bus. I would say 14 legs from the kids as the backpacks ain't on the bus, they have 7 each but they are prolly at home. The busdriver is of the bus taking a piss so only 7 kids there as stated hence 14 legs.

Since you met them on the way there, they were obviously leaving St. Ives. So the only one going there was "you"? :)

EDIT: Oh, didn't see the reply above! Ah well. :p

Huh?

Listen, there are 49 backpacks, since the 7 kids had 7 backpacks EACH. Then in EACH of these 49 backpacks, there are 7 adults cats, making 343 of the little bastards. Then EACH of these 343 cats have 7 kittens making 2401 cutey cuddley wuddley little kitten furballs!

In other words, you have a total of 2744 cats and 7 humans. Now try and figure out how many legs that makes.

Geeze, people! :)
