Howdy,

Me and my friend wanna play some others pc games. We've been playing WoW for the past year or 2 and we're super bored :( the pvp is wow is unrewarding so we would like to try something else.

Because we're going to play Warhammer we figured we would take a break from mmo rpg's. I was trying to find a game like Tom Clancy or SOCOM (in the sense we can play co-operatively), however we need to be able to connect to each other's game...

ATM we play Command and Conquer 3 via a Hamachi VPN link so we can use the LAN match (handy as other friends can join us easily on the LAN....cracked versions of the game ofc)

Is there any good games like Rainbow 6 that allows 2 people to play co-op via the Internet or Lan?

If you hadn't gone into so much detail, I am sure you would be taking the piss. Try Doom3, Quake 4, Rune - An Epic Battle From Human Head Studios, call of duty or just hang out on the dev forum for dragon ball z online and nag them for an alpha account :p

btw, DBZ online is looking kinda cool :)

rainbow 6 vegas, awesome game and even better because you can co-op through the missions with up to 3-4 people
Ghost Recon advanced warfighter is good
Aliens Versus predator 1+2 is good, especially if you get the hack to unlock the single player levels as co-op
Halo 2 is also on the pc now
oblivion is good with some mods

Serious Sam: The First Encounter & diablo if you want to go old school

I'd still say, if you're into more MMOs, try EVE.

Send me a PM with mail and i'll hook you up.

It's just that, it's the kinda MMO you can play even if you odn't play as the training can be done offline :D

Should atleast give it a go, it's quite different from other MMOs.

What do you do in Eve? I only ever hear the bad points which involve "who wants to go mining" or "politics blagh blah"

I have no idea what the game is like :(

p.s. Chronic, if me and my m8 bought Rainbow 6 Vegas, can we play co-op over the net, or will we need to use Hamachi for a "fake" network.

Elite, just bigger.

Do missions(quest), mine(mine), pvp(battlegrounds), haul stuff(play with AH) etc. Quite the usual.

Only thing is that there's no classes etc, it's just you and your skills and nothing is(relatively) safe.

There's some lacking issues, and lag issues at times(and places), but it's a good relaxing MMO(i've found) and a pleasent change to the more fast paced(like WoW) MMOs.

Worth a shot, the two week trial is free and i don't think it needs a CC or anything even.

Source is crap, its just Ravenshield gone Counter Strike Mode.

Counter Strike 1.6 still has loads of people playing due to its simplicity :p

hldm/ag > cs :<

tho, NWN2 has coop to 4 players on the main plot. if you like rpgs thats worth a try i guess

think stalker has coop as well

The only issue with Quake (Quake 3 in this case, I wouldn't ever touch Quake 4 again) is that if you were to start now you've got a lot of catching up to do in terms of learning how to play/the maps etc, since it's been out so long. As a new comer you really do stand 0.00000001% chance of killing any of the old skoolers.

I started Q3 after playing JK2 which uses the same engine and has similar movement but it even took me some learning and I'm far from good enough to be called "pro", the other guys in my clan can still own me without breaking a sweat.

I think i'm missing something when people complain about WoW PvP.

It's better than DAoC's new type RvR ever was, it's reminiscent of the old school RvR where people actually used to give 2 fucks about keep takes!

I think it's tons of fun!

you rarely get a 1on1 as their's always a lock who dots the fuck out of you, or a warrior in his tier5 set who is hitting for 1k, 2k etc. Paladins are unkilliable due to being able to heal while 5 people are attacking him.

I have a 70 warrior, druid and hunter. I have the lionheart wpn on my warrior and a couple of bg armour pieces. I realise i dont have amazing gear, but the fact is I have to get into melee range to do dmg, this means you get atatcked by everyone around you. I have fun on my hunter, but with shadow priests and warlocks being so common, they make life hell.

I dont actually think you pvp, you just have your group of people nuking their group, and whoever actually helps their allies, wins.

The other thing I hate is the reward system, I hate pve so doing AV is pretty much the same thing, you dont really fight the enemy that much due to both sites rushing the npc's. When you get enough points you get your armour....then your new weapons. Once you have that, then waht? all you do is more AV's, AB's etc. The only difference is you kill a little faster, and die a little slower.

Arena's are not the most fun either, hunter=los issues :(

They need some form of realm points in the sense that you can pvp all day, maybe get that armour piece from the tokens, but also earn enough points for Ignore Pain, or MCL or First Aid etc. It's the fact that the pvp is literally pve, you find most people dont even bother playing, just afk so that it ends quicker.

Re-Explanation of question

Sorry for the Bold text, but it seems my question was not understood...or i have written it poorly.

I would like to play a game which is like Rainbow 6, I want to have a mission of some sorts. With counter strike it's a great game (we already have this) but it's just shooting other people. We want to play some form of co-op in a mission style scenario.

I suppose my question is "Can Rainbow 6 Vegas be played over the internet in a co-op Story mode"?
If it can only be done on LAN, can it be done via a Virtual Lan?

me and my friend bought the game, gonna try and persuade 2 other friends to get it as the story co-op can be done with 4 people :)

When i mentioned hamachi it was regarding only being able to play co-op on lan....but it can be done online so I'm happy.

Thanks guys :)
