They are hardly retards for having different opinions than you about immergration :/

They are if their opinions are based on ignorance. Some of the posts in that thread are ok, some of it is just retarded.

It seems OK to have an opinion, as long as it's PC or non-confrontational. The asian in question has no right to be here imo. Not particularly because of his colour, but because the twat has shown no desire to integrate in to our society, although I'm sure he's happy to reap its financial benefits over the shithole he probably came from.
There are levels in between being PC and being a member of the NF or BNP, not everything is black and white.

i agree, you should have to speak english and be able to read and write in English to come into this country, you should be given the choice of signing up to a bit of paper that says "things you must be able to do to come into the UK"

1. be able to speak and read and write in english, or be prepared to go on a training course to be able to do these things (exam after course)
2. pledge allegiance to the Queen
3. promise to get a job within 6 months of entering the country, if not benefits get stopped until they get a job
4. No family members can join them until they have a job

If the people trying to get into this country do not want to sign that paper then they get shown the door.

I cant see a problem with that.

several of my english and american friends often complain that learning dutch is hard in holland, because the dutch instantly notice your default language and speak to you in english. I suspect this can be quite annoying at times but the dutch tend to be proud of their language skills and like to practice them (as anyone would). in school you get the chance to learn english, french, german and dutch (latin and greek too sometimes) until you either specialize or drop non-mandatory languages after a certain class, and thanks to the influence of television and music everyone can speak english with reasonable skill.

so verry true, i had an american friend living in belgium for about 8 years.
He took classes to learn dutch stoped after a month or so saying it was useless. Nobody would speak dutch to him even if he asked people they would switch back to english by the second sentence so he never got to practice

Much though it causes me physical pain to agree with you - I think that's a pretty sound plan.

2. pledge allegiance to the Queen

just out of curiosity...how many of you people have done this? I know for a fact that *I* have not, but then I'm only half Scots, so maybe that doesn't count.

I would, because I'm a traditional kind of person. I think everybody needs a natural leader.

Then again, I never saw anything wrong with hereditary titles, IMO its better than voting for people, or 'appointing' people.

I'm also in favour of shutting shops on Sundays. Its a right pain in the arse trying to go anywhere on the weekend now.

I think the pledge of allegiance thing is with regard to "new citizens" coming here. Being born in this country automatically makes you one of her subjects, therefore negating the need for a pledge of allegiance.

You don't need to have taken a pledge of allegiance to be charged with treason, whereas a foreigner cannot be charge with the same offense.
I think thats what he meant by saying "take the pledge".

Am I right?

I'm with Tom, I like the traditional elements of Britain and having Royalty lends a bit of stability to things. And "for Queen and Country" always sounds better than "for the Republic" imho :)

PS: I agree that people should speak english before coming here. Its not a lot to ask is it?

From my experience of ex-pats the argument doesn't apply. Sure they keep to themselves and don't learn the language (generalisation) but in most cases they only WORK in the country they're in. They don't want to become citizens, it's often only temporary and they don't expect to claim benefits, get treated for free in hospitals and be educated for free.

Of course those people who go to live in a cottage in France and don't talk to the locals don't count. To live in beautiful countryside for half the price of the UK and have nothing to do with the French is entirely sensible IMO.

About the allegiance thing even if most Britons did not want to swear to the crown, I think we all have to as British citizens unless you wanted to not be considered under her rule therefore expelled. Probably someone on the law know how could argue to what extent we have to follow what the government and queen say.

Personally I think that those coming to this country would have to agree to abide and follow all laws of the UK. With the ability to read and write basic English and give reason for wanting to become a citizen in that way those coming for work would need to show commitment if this was their reason of immigration. Maybe with direct family having the ability to apply easier to immigrate if there is someone in the family who had already received citizenship.

Only problem is, half the indigenous people in this country can't read or write English.
