Do we really need an A-Team film? Can you think of a single movie remake of a 70s or 80s TV show that was actually good?

Untouchables and The Fugitive were quality films based on 60's TV shows but you're right I think everything else was garbage...I remember seeing the Brady Bunch movie once but can't remember how good / bad / indifferent it was, which might be a good thing :)

Miami Vice wasn't bad.

It was awful.

As you said, 60s shows; there's a few of them that have made the transformation OK, Star Trek being the most obvious.

Agree with that.

Also starsky & hutch wasn't too bad if it wasn't taken too seriously.

Can't remember all remakes but...A-Team would be awesome if it's not bonkered.

Starsky & Hutch was terrible! Its the perfect example of how the movie completely misunderstand the tone of the original.

I don't really count Spiderman because it was always a comic first, and Sam Raimi never really referenced the TV shows (live or cartoon). Funnily enough I enjoyed Transformers, but that's probably because I didn't watch the original (I was all growed up by then).

The 1st Mission: Impossible was great but I don't really remember the 2nd or 3rd. :(

As above, 60s.

I think the common theme is that serious shows tend to work better (Miami Vice excepted), but comedies or "comedy-dramas" just fail, usually because they try to make the comedy more "relevant", or insist on making it a vehicle for the Judd Apatow/Will Farrell/Ben Stiller mobs which always fails. In addition, I just think TV shows that were great when you were 10 don't necessarily stand up to close scrutiny when you've grown up. Nostalgia can be a right bitch sometimes.

As much as I like Common's music (very talented man), he has appeared in a string of shit films, the latest being Terminator Shatvation.

i would concur wholeheartedly

Clooney certainly has the hair to pull it off that is for sure, and the smile.

Clooney would need to be directed by the Coen brothers to pull it off though, I think.

Yeah, you would need a 'O Brother' Clooney rather than a 'Oceans' Clooney.

Well O Brother mixed with Intolerable Cruelty - wacky and a suave with crazy hair.

Right perfect. Now we just need to petition them to change directors and the lead actor, or hatch a plan to do the same thing.
