Untouchables and The Fugitive were quality films based on 60's TV shows but you're right I think everything else was garbage...I remember seeing the Brady Bunch movie once but can't remember how good / bad / indifferent it was, which might be a good thing

As you said, 60s shows; there's a few of them that have made the transformation OK, Star Trek being the most obvious.

Starsky & Hutch was terrible! Its the perfect example of how the movie completely misunderstand the tone of the original.

I don't really count Spiderman because it was always a comic first, and Sam Raimi never really referenced the TV shows (live or cartoon). Funnily enough I enjoyed Transformers, but that's probably because I didn't watch the original (I was all growed up by then).

I think the common theme is that serious shows tend to work better (Miami Vice excepted), but comedies or "comedy-dramas" just fail, usually because they try to make the comedy more "relevant", or insist on making it a vehicle for the Judd Apatow/Will Farrell/Ben Stiller mobs which always fails. In addition, I just think TV shows that were great when you were 10 don't necessarily stand up to close scrutiny when you've grown up. Nostalgia can be a right bitch sometimes.
