I just laughed at death!

I had the wierdest thing happen to me today at work. I was running, full pace to help this guy out in a kart who was stuck. I jumped over one of the barriers and clipped my foot. I went straight down to the tarmac landing on my stomach, hands and face. I looked to the left of me and stared at a car coming at me at 70mph, I'd just fucked up my body completely and was pretty much dead if this car hit me, due to the shape of them. I just lay there and laughed, I didn't even try to move, I was bleeding everywhere and I just layed there and laughed. The guy somehow managed to control the car and miss me by centimetres. I was just in a very strange state. I felt so relaxed and I didn't care if I was gonna get hit; I just got up and walked away. This was one really mind-bending-what-the-fuck-am-i-doing-here experiences.

Any comments, I feel pretty strange now. Kinda cool that I'm not afraid of death or anything for that matter.

Well, if it was a posh car like a Jag/Merc i'd be chuffed to be hit by one.. but if its an old 3 Wheeler Del Boy Style Car, id fuckin hate it lol

Okayyy, thanks Gray.

The body has a great way of dealing with this stuff, doesn't it? Like the feeling of euphoria you're supposed to get as you drown, the sudden release of pain and feeling of calm people have mentioned before dying.

I guess there's a point where the brain says, 'that's that, then' and just makes it all a little easier.

Glad you came out of it okay, though. Be careful next time, fs.

Yeah I've had that feeling in different circumstances. Its weird, everything seems to stop and nothing seems to matter, you cant seem to focus or think of anything clearly. Your just there, waiting for something kindof.

Heh, I've felt that 4 times in the last few years. Two car crashes, one that gave me a lovely view of the drop I was going to take if the barrier I was bouncing off failed. And two armed robberies at my till when I worked in the Post Office. Time just stops and your brain gives up.

The link between pleasure and pain is very close (too close for some people ;)). It doesn't surprise me that you laughed

I've also had a very similar experience.

When I was 16 a guy came up to me and my friends, and pulled a gun out and threatened to kill us all. Got to love Bognor eh? Anyway, that really ridiculous laugh mechanism kicked in. I was giggling like a school girl, which isnt high on the list of Things To Do When Threatened By A Psychopath With a Gun. Making those stupid kchhh kchhh noises like you do when you arent meant to be laughing in assembly.

Anyway, none of us died, which was good, but I was not flavour of the month for laughing in the gun mans face. My friends were making those eye signals that mean "Stop It You Stupid Fucking Cow!!!" but I really couldn't.

Afterwards i got to go in a police car with a search light on top of it. Which was cool :)

If you can stare death in the face laugh, then you can do anything.

Its been known that men on the battle fields in the trenches were known to burst out laughing just before they go out and fight. This was due to nervous laughter.

frizz teh Sikolejist.:)
