I just discovered something new

While putting off revision and inadvertantly resetting the desktop settings, I've just discovered the single most annoying "feature" ever.

If you set an animated .gif as the background image in XP, it does actually animate. Why?!?! Oh for the love of.. Why?!?!

Whoever at microsoft dared implement that....

Set that as your background, preferably tiled.

Oh indeed, I *don't* use animated gifs for it, I just happened apon it.

It may well be an active desktop or XP thing, since I believe AD is just a part of the course with XP?

The one I used was:

bear1.gif

having it tiled and all blinking at once was... well... disturbing.

Hmm, if that's not the radiohead bear it sure looks like it.

I've got reflective Radiohead bear on the sleeve of my Radiohead hoody. It's quite nifty.

Windows 95, actually. It was an optional extra as part of the install of Internet Explorer 4.

(Heh. I beat Stu at something. IN YOUR SMUG FACE, LOSER! ;) )

Yeah, I meant that in XP I don't think you can turn it off. In 9x anyone with an eye for stability beyond 5 minutes killed the bugger :D
