I hate radar

getting one member of GOA, to roam emain with no skin, isn't really a huge drain on resources, I would say it's quite a minimal effort, and probably one of the best methods to catch radar-users.

Asking a member of a company to play their product is too much effort ?

I think it shouldn't be a problem to catch radar abusers IF the players just keep informing it trough Right Now instead of whining here.

But setting up an event seems to have a higher priority then catching cheaters at GOA HQ?

People are so funny.
When they know there's some kind of cheat out most people use it. If they don't know about it, it's just bad luck.

Hihi, I've been accused of radar once too, quite amusing

You know that people have around 40% chance to come from behind (same from front and about 20% from sides because of people moving at high speeds).
For it happening 5-10 times in a row isn't much of a stretch, especially if you keep running the same route, and they're kind of doing the same.

There's certainly people using it, but you can't judge the number by amount of downloads by a certain realm said by a cheat creator (trustworthy character, ps for everyone using radar, it's like 3 lines of code for them to get your account(s)/password(s), so enjoy ).

Ah well, people like to have excuses I guess. I haven't seen any particularly weird behaviour in groups I've been in. (well, except my behaviour ofc! )

all radar programs have a keylogger in it, and is one of the main reasons people get hacked

+ most of the people that suddenly "quit" with NF will be radar users.

1.70 allows detection of in-memory radar.

However the claims on the herald are backed up by the people on the cheet0r boards complaining about being banned.

It's possible they just bribed a load of radar subscribers to say that mind you, depends how paranoid you are

That´s neither relyable, nor efficient. Even if the observing person has a pretty good knowledge about what´s possible and what´s not and even if he´s able to judge and detect radar users in 90% of the cases, there´s still a 10% leftover. Banning innocent people will result in a massive reputation loss and a loss of faith in GoA´s methods of detecting.
The only way to detect cheaters is by using some sort of detection software, using the different sources the netcode has to offer.

sounds good Thorwyn, but we don't care. Just find them and get rid of them. Everyone that plays DAOC shapes the way the game plays, how people form groups, how they roam, what classes they lvl, and some of these trends are set by people that cheat. The technical side is challenge to overcome not an impassable obstacle.

Some of the people that you think of l33t who sets trends, are infact cheatorz, who will ALWAYS mezz you nevermind what direction you come from. I've seen it, Healers standing there, split from their group, rdy to mezz incs, yes its their job, so shouldn't be surprising, but ALWAYS being at the right side ? These healers will dissapear b4 NF is released ! Call me paranoid or wtvr, dont care, but I am certain that there is atleast one Mezzing char on Excaliber that uses radar-software.

Don't get me wrong, its not something that bothers me, nor do I feel strongly about it, but its naive of the people that are saying "stop being so Paranoid" and "Mythic can't do anything". Give us 100% assurance their is no Radar use, then we can just wrap it up and move on.

Yeah, I agree that cheaters should be banned, no question. I just disagree that hanging around in Emain in GM ghost mode is a relyable way to detect cheaters because people just can misinterpret things. It would be a way to certify a case, but nothing else imo. If GoA would ban me because I accidentally turned and faced into the right direction after some stealther popped a couple of times, I would indeed be pissed and so were you if it was your account. Ban them, yeah. But when you do, do it on a 100% relyable basis.

2. Albs from Xcal would generally play Mid or Hib on Pryd, There is RADAR whines from them.
3. Hibs/Mids on Xcal generally play Alb or summat on Pryd......

I think there are less ppl usin randar then the last patch, but gettin ppl from behind or go back cos there is inc from behind is mostly by lag ie. pan around and get lag from behind or left or right etc it works good in most cases etc.
Expirience also is a good advantage on spot ppl go and rb most of the good rvr players have the good part of bough examples above if not they could have been using radar

i would name a certain BD..but think most alb/hib stealthers, and even his own realmmates already know who it is...hope he has fun running back when there is a fight out of sight...1 vs 1 etc...rush in with his group at speed 6 and lifetapping me in 2 sec.


I hardly rude spam people..but for him i'm starting to make an exception...only thing he needs to learn is to how use radar without everyone noticing it.
