I hate popups

I especially hate popups that hide themselves, minimise themselves, contain code that crashes your browser, spawn a zillion more popups or do anything else popup-wise.

they must die.

that is all.

The problem with turning javascript off is that when you go to a web site that uses javascripts you are pretty much stuffed!!

Use popup stopper...its better...

Mine doesn't like it, but works if you hold down shift or ctrl while you click the link or whatever. Alternatively turn it off for banking.

Either way the benefits of pop-up stopper far outweigh any disadvantages.

It's ace, get it!!

I think Kez was saying that you're all a bunch of gullable gimps, for using IE that lacks any control over Javascript.

Or at least that's what i'm saying.
Mozilla > IE

ever so slightly off topic

@Shocko

Is that an otter in your avatar? Ever seen one? I have, it was down by the river and they're real rare, it's like spotting a UFO, I reported it to the otter club people and everything. It made me feel speshul, otters fucking rule.

Back on topic

Pop up stopper is cool but AnalogX's POW! is a useful back up, you have to add them to a list manually but, once you have, it zaps ones that PUS sometimes misses.

Pow! is bloody shit, as it lets the popups open before it registers their title/server and kills them. Pretty retarded.

Moz is king.

Otters own with a capital P :D
But alas, no, i've never seen a real otter :(

Kempo, i allways point out that Moz > IE in these disscussions, since it is the case. Perhaps if you listened to me, there wouldn't be so many threads moaning about popups? Oh, and Mozilla has a great way to block ads...
*right click*

Sorted ;)

I shall test it tonight. I don't think I could ever go back to using IE. Here at work I find myself performing gestures automatically, and getting annoyed when they don't work. Same with using Windows explorer.

Yea but the greatest thing aobut IE, is that it works with everything, unlike netscape, mozilla, hot java blah blah blah, compatability means everything so fo.

I wasn't dissing your style dude, I just didn't want to make the same mistake. I personally find that spelling and grammer matter, though I hasten to add that I sometimes dick around myself. Be aware that I do things like that on purpose [call it "quote bad songs when Kez is about syndrome"]. One is fully entitled to make mistakes, but one shouldn't freak when they get pointed out. It's professional btw :)

In my post I actually tried to point out that mickeysoft only holds to any kind of RFC standard et al when forced to at gunpoint, and changes their own so called "standards" whenever it suits them [especially when they can cunt some rival, oracle for instance, at the same time].

thank you.

Well I like microsoft, as far as im concerned they ahve done me nothing but favours. SInce the vast majority of users in the world use their software there is nothign wrong with them setting their own standards. As long as it allows everythign to work, and makes it simple for the end user, its good.

Linux etc is all well and good, but it will never take on microsoft becuase it simply isnt user friendly enough.

Do you really want a world where Internet Explorer is the only option? I think not.

At the moment it is very much a case of "websites work in IE because everyone uses IE, everyone uses IE because all websites work with IE". Quite frankly, that isn't on.

I don't use Opera because I hate MS. I use Opera because it has a lot of features I like, and is far more secure than IE.

And saying "I use IE because it works, so fo" is asking for that sort of response.;)
