By a strange and not yet fully explained twist of fate, the three of us living here haven't paid a penny of rent for two years.

Don't ask me why. We even wrote to the landlord twice asking him to take money from us, but no reply. He even sent a landscape gardener round to do two days of work. Didnt cost us a thing.

Fair point, but we have been paying rent into a joint account for all this time. It's sitting at several thousand pounds at the mo, so we can easily pay up if and when he cottons on.

The flip side is we don't currently have a lease, so I'm not sure legally whether we will have to pay back rent. I guess at the moment we're squatters, but he knows we're here.

I suspect that the property agency is paying money to the landlord, but they're not taking that money from our account.

Exciting and frightening. :/
