sorry...its not a poo thread but I couldn't resist the play on words hehe

nope I have started running (well not atm obviously cant run aaand type!) but sunday AM I was up at dawn and went to the large carpark round the back of my house (nice and secluded...wanted to see if I actually could run first before trying it in public) managed 9 laps and walked twice round, Tuesday up at dawn again managed either 10 or 11 laps lost count so may have done one extra and walked round twice and today...

*drumroll...hold the mayo*

I ran in public!! I did it ... was still at dawn because I am far to crap to be seen running by people, but I ran round the block which is further than I have done before, I'd say its about a 20min stroll not sure of exact distance. I didn't die, I didn't puke, i did manage to do some impressive stretches against a wall and look all california with my waterbottle \o/

I'm well pleased because I never thought I would/could do it, running always was my arch nemisis in that i'd go about 50 yards and collapse puking while my legs cramped up then roll home to cry and eat chocolate lol but I have dreams where I am running and enjoying it and I always wake up thinking man I wish I could do that...now I have so taadaa!

Not as impressive as Tris's 2:1 :)clap:) but a personal achievement that I wanted to boast about and seeing as you guys are my surrogate family you get boasted at.

Btw any hints/tips on how to run effectively would be most appreciated because i've only been doing it 3 days so advice welcome :D

I just started running for cardio instead of the treadmill / bike / cross trainer in the gym. Fuck me it killed me. Did 6 laps of a field (football size) on Monday and was shattered. treadmills got nothing on the real thing.

I heard moving one foot infront of the other fairly quick helps, also if you make sure you dont try and combine piggy backs whilst running that tends to help.

Nah I really have no idea on how to help, sorry Ez. Keep it up though :)

Go for time over speed, that is run for as long as possible rather than as quick as possible.

Breath deaply and in control rather than gasp for breath.

Good work and keep it up!

No offence, but I see this quite often with graduates. It is expected that you should be able to spell at your quite proficient graduate level. Yet so many graduates these days fail at this area. Quite why I've no idea :(

On the other hand, given the informal nature of online forums it's quite easy to make simple typos. If you asked tris how to spell "deeply" I doubt he would say "d e a p l y", it's one of those things that that just rolls off the hand when you're typing.

Still, don't let me stop you making a snobby post eh? :)

P.S. A smiley is not punctuation, you missed a full stop.

Get a thesaurus mr journalist.. You've used "quite" twice in only four sentances.

I think it is a bit lazy to use the same word so often. As often as that, anyway. I like repetition less often. If it is too often, I feel like the writer is just not trying very hard.

I was thinking of "often" actually :)

Well in that case we are both right. Start using your words with some imagination Tris and read it to yourself or better still, say it before you post and then you will get a better way of putting your voice across in text :)

Did not seem that way :p

Well, it's like a face. You make impressions of the person when you see it, some good some bad. You can't see me here typing away so you make assumptions, which is logical... :p
