I decided to RMA my memory

A few weeks ago, i posted a thread about memory problems. I have emailed overclockers.co.uk and requested an RMA, however, upon reading the RMA form it states

Returned items must be in original packaging, with all original boxes, packing materials, manuals, blank warranty cards, all other accessories however small and documentation provided by the manufacturer.
I do not have the packaging. Does anyone here have exeperience of RMAing anything to overclockers and do you know if this is crucial?

I would email them back but it's friday evening so I probably wont get a reply until monday and if possible I was going to send it of tommorow.

Thanks for any help.

I sent back my 9800 Pro without the manual, CDs/drivers, warranty card and s-video cable and they replaced it without a hitch.

I would note for future reference not to throw away packaging regardless of how small it may be.

When they refer to "original packaging" I think that means if the stuff is retail and comes in a nice box for the shelf. As RAM is often stuck in an antistatic envelope and a jiffy bag, I don't think that applies.

Mine came in that plastic thing, shaped and has the holes for the hooks. Just like action figures!

Actually, the twinmos ram came in a small plastic box. But thanks for the replies. I'll put it in the post tommorow :)

You may also find that oc.co.uk will replace it regardless: they told me they don't have enough resource to test all the returns and are simply replacing them.

Additionally, one of the managers confirmed there is a known issue between the TwinMOS PC3200 ram and nforce2 chipsets.

I eventually bought Corsair and it's been farking brilliant.

I was told by email that "Any twinmos dual channel memory purchased since January is not compatible with nforce 2 chipsets." and I bought mine in november. But they're still going to replace it.

I cannot afford to buy new memory, so I hope getting it replaced will do the trick.

Meanwhile i've borrowed a 512mb stick of PC2100 ddr from the family computer. At least I can still use my computer while the memory is being replaced.
