I'd still read the book if I where you, though he has given away the ending its still worth a read and there is a very big twist in it.

I have it sitting here.

I aren't annoyed at Saw because hes a good guy and didn't mean giving away some of the storyline, it just takes an awful lot for me to read a book nowadays and it seems I will look for any excuse not to make the effort.

The first half of the film was really good, with the potential to be fantastic. The second half of the film was meh, with hints of pfft. If they ever do a directors cut, then maybe it can redeemed. As it stands though, I still think it's a good enough film, it's just marred by the fact that it could and should have been a fantastic film.

The film would be nothing without the dog. Bath scene ftw!

Saw didnt really give it away at all. The book is relatively small and you really should read it.

Im sorry about that. I haven't really given away the main plot twist for the book.

I was just a little depressed that it was a remake of The Omega Man.

If it was going to do that it should have had green mutants with Afros

Struggled to stay awake during this movie, and why at the end didnt he simply toss his grenade thru the broken glass and take his chances with a few cuts?, you can view imdb for numerous plot glitches if you are struggling to get atleast 20 yourself.

They used the dog as a sympathy thing which was low.

I know this is based on a novel but it's simply been done before and much better aka, 28 days later, as for 28 weeks later, seems the american's were in charge this time and fucked up the movie.

Actually I have to agree with bob269. I am Legend is a good film but is also an example of how HollyWood tries to take an English film (sorry Chet and SheepCow, my 360 hd-dvd lovers) and turns it into shit. THey totally ruined a blockbuster. It was good until the last 10 minutes when it seemed liked 2 hrs of film was condensed into 10 minutes....

The dog was actually referenced to in the book, plus the book also had a much better ending than any of the movies you have mentioned above.

Nope, I liked the film.

It wasn't like many of the films I've been watching of late where the whole purpose is to set you up for a cliffhanger in order to allow development of a second movie. It was a good film, from start to finish. I agree with Tom in the UV light thing....seemed a bit silly, but there you go.

Now, if you want to start comparing it to the book...well, I'm not sure I've ever been let down by a film when I enjoyed the book. Jarhead, American Psycho, Trainspotting, Starship Troopers, Dune...the list is endless.

Books rock.

Yeah its a cock up, its set in

Miscellaneous: The fictional Batman/Superman movie was slated to open in 2010 (seen during one of the opening scenes in Times Square) - however - if everyone was either infected or died three years earlier, who would've put it up? Advertisers generally don't advertise movies three years in advance - especially when Manhattan was in such a state of chaos. from IMDB

Anyway if you were disappointed by this film then I suggest you go and watch "No Country for Old Men" when it comes out in a week or three.

If you don't enjoy that, then you belong on the mongy bus.

Thats the problem, it is like the book in name only (which defeats the purpose of it all). I only wanted a director with some balls to take the story and make it as close as they could have to the book. Now the name has been gobbled up and used only to be turned into an omega man remake. I am sick to shit of having to have a happy ending.

Love this film, one of the best Will Smith has been in for a while. I agree the film could and would have been better if a little longer so the story about the cure could have been played out more.

Id say 7/10 ;)

Silly meh.

The Dune series totally needs a massive epic film saga, with a good budget and director, producer and actors who have actually read the books and understand fully the characters and what is going on.

Would be immense. Love those books :)

Let's face it, it was released on boxing day and there was nothing else to watch, they got viewers by default.

Box office records mean good marketing, or nothing else to watch, highest money in opening week is good, because after that people get to hear how shit the movie was and avoid it, 2nd, 3rd, 4th week probably tell a different story.

Just watched it.........
Enjoyed it, but agree with the majority in that the last bit lets the whole thing down. having tried very hard not to read anything about it, I had no idea what to expect, so jumped quite a few times and had a few surprises - which I liked. the dog rocks....but Smith was on fantastic form, and who cares if every movie he does shows him working out? I certainly don;t, he's fit as anything!

I have to say though, it does smack of, amongst other things, 28 days later, The Mummy, Serenity and a few others I can't think of right now!

Just watched the alternate ending, fucking buffoons still didnt have the balls to explain what the fuck the whole film was about.

Heaven forbid someone actually being killed by a monster. No its much easier to show people being brutally murdered and raped by another human being than to try and actually explain the story like the author wanted it to be explained!!!!
