I found a second hand xbox 360 and let my kids spend their Christmas money on it. It has finally arrived. It fires up but says you need to download to connect to xbox live and you can't do it. Been going round in circles for an hour. Any advice?

Sounds like it needs to update its version. Should just plug it in via Ethernet and do it. Unless it was one that's been banned although I guess you would see a message saying that.

Tried a factory reset?

Depends there's two versions. A memory card version and a hdd version. No the 360 had the hdd slapped on the outside of it. At least the original one. Bit dodgy shipping it without memory of some sort. Bit of a brick without it

Its a 360 E with the HDD in the side, I think the original one had it as a raised section on the side, but this one 'clicks' in and out like a memory card, anyway its not there

She has checked, as I asked her if she was sure it had not said in the listing 'not sold with HDD' but it doesn't say that, so you would assume it would have it

She's gonna contact the guy first, it was through Amazon, but a marketplace seller. It may be a simple mistake and he can send the HDD on to her.

The whole thing has been a bit of a ball ache tbh, it took ages to arrive, I think she might just send it back if gets funny about it

They have a memory card in them 256mb. What Russell has is neither. Oh and the ones win the memory cards in don't play some of the games that need bigger storage anyway.
