actually they can also be caused by poor hygene, in my x bfs case he insisted on wearing a leather motorcycle jacket with a high collar in boling hot weather, all the sweat he produced plus his general avoidance of any form of washing meant that the pores became blocked and one got infected and the puss was the bodys way of trying to flush out the infection, unfortunately due to the blocked pore the puss couldnt get out.

also when i was working at a nursing home one of the old ladies who was bed ridden and couldnt look after herself at all had what we thought was a large mole (about the size of the head of a drawing pin) on her stomache... it was actually a long worm shaped cyst formed of hardened puss (not an actual worm as in the living thing). the day that sucker got squeezed well, that was mighty ...interesting
