Well, i use a forum which is mainly for a game i play, signups and what not, however on my PC recently i have been unable to:

Firstly; Reply or Submit any posts on the forum, when i do i get an error message which i will show below

Secondly; to counter this problem, i did the usual, clear cache, try Mozilla/Internet Explorer, cleared Temp shit, reset etc... nothing was working.

It has only been happening the past 2 days, i tried on a works PC and it logged me on, and i was able to submit posts etc as normal, which leads me to believe its my connection/firewall.

The error is:

Warning: your browser doesn't send the HTTP_REFERER header to the website.
This can be caused due to your browser, using a proxy server or your firewall.
Please change browser or turn off the use of a proxy
or turn off the 'Deny servers to trace web browsing' in your firewall
and you shouldn't have problems when sending a POST on this website.

It appears the same on both IE and Moz, i have checked through my firewall (Norton Internet Security) and was unable to find anything relating to this "Deny servers to trace" thing, so i started to Google.

It brought up web development pages were some places have incorrect coding and that causes the problem: But as far as im aware, im the only one affected, and its only happening on this connection (not at work) so its bugged me a little.

I do recall though an NTL popup coming on few days ago... I dont know if its anything to do with the router, as ive never touched it really, or something on NTL's side.

... hope this is right forum, think it is...

Nope, WebDev is the wrong forum I'm afraid Gray ;) If it was your messageboard and you needed to fix the code then we're you're people. But you need more generic tech support. I'll prod SheepCow to shift it into standard Hardware/Software where you'll hopefully get a better response (cause I suspect most people steer clear of here to avoid my incessant evangelism).

More helpfully it does sound rather like some sort of Proxy or Firewall software is stripping out your referrer information. It might not have the same setting name as is quoted in that error message though. I don't suppose you fiddled with anything just before this happened, did you?

thought it was wrong forum, seen all the website techy stuff and thought what do you know! i might have the right forum ;), hohum.

Well... nothing was changed by myself, and this forum i use is kinda new as in about a month old or so old, it does seem like something which is on this end of the connection im using, and possibly not the forum directly.. But i dont know if any coding has been changed as i havent got the admin online, but it seems strange how my account on the forum works fine on say.. another PC.

I just need to find out where this "Deny servers to trace web browsing" as i havent seen that option before..

Fixed!

It was the firewall i was using, i did some more indepth searches and found what i had to do was "allow" the website, and permit it.

Whooo lucky... it was a site i seen at work, but it was like an advert site on how to get it to be allowed, whoo...
