Help HTC Desire 2.2 question

Hopefully a nice easy one.

My call volume is at 80%
My text volume mirrors my call volume (from what I can tell) so it's also 80%

When someone phones me, I answer the phone and happily chat away. The problem is if someone texts me whilst in a call, it plays the text audio file at 80% max volume thus fucking hurts my ear

Is there a setting (tbh it should do it by default) that will play either my audio file, or a nice little beep at a very low volume. That way I know a text has come in, without my ears bleeding

No idea, I get a beep and it's not that loud. The beep overrides my chosen notification sound. Could not find anything in the settings either.

Ahh ok, I will have to have another look round before phoning Orange

Got one answer for you, I use handcent sms and that has a separate setting for "notifications during call"

So download that.

Can't you use that fancy "script it yourself" app on android and get it to mute text notifications when you're taking a call?
