HSBC kinda suck

Well i snapped my bank card weeks ago and got on the phone requested a new one, they was like oki se send new one right away u will recive it within 4-5 working days..

nothing came im like a poor bastard now, anyway after a week and abit i got back on the phone and called em explained i havent got my card yet and they said the same shit.

anyway cause i got like a fiver to last me till new card arrives i go into my local HSBC, the custer service desk was like busy so i went straight to the pretty ladies at the cashiers, basically i explained about my card issues and ask how i would go about getting money out,

She said u will need your check book, i pulled mine out my pocket, then she said some bs which i didnt hear so asked he to show me what i need to write down, anyway done it etc and she insta asked me how would i like the cash?

So this is how save my bank account is? i can walk into a bank with a cheque book and withdraw xxx amount w/o showing any form of ID is Extremely bad imo :/

think i remember a few years ago in barclays someone didn't have a card so he was just asked to quote the account number and managed to withdraw cash just by doing that ;o due to memory though this may not be true ;p

Must be a crap bank. In Denmark they always want picture id, and ofc. if you cheat you are caught on the cameras.
And to withdraw without a card we(or atleast i can in my bank) just walk up, show my drivers license and withdraw from my name, they normally want signature thou.

Most banks if not all of them have a thing called SMD (Signature Mandate Database) when you open your account you should be asked to sign a form, this form then goes on to headoffice who add your signature to a database. The cashire then looks at the signature on the database to see if it matches the one infront of them. Most banks have a limit to what you can withdraw purely with a signature, in my experince (working at a bank) i would suggest anything over 500 quid would be worth taking some form of ID just incase.

So you cannot simply walk into a bank and "withdraw money" without having a signature that looks like the one on the database..

Please don't go around spouting shit, when in reality you know fuck all..

what may says is true though there is a database for your signature do you send ID if you send a cheque in the post btw MxN?. ofc a signature can be forged, in the same way a card can be cloned, until they use biometric security it will never be 100% secure.

Signature part is true, when I first signed up they asked for my signature and told me not to change it as it's used on a database.

Also I had a faulty card...i went into my local branch she order a new card and sure enough a new one arrived 4 - 5 days later. Same pin number, hassle free.

However I don't like* HSBC because they've just sent me a letter stating they've upped my credit card limit to £1500 - they might as well have sent me a letter saying "Hiya buy yourself an XBox360 and a hi def tv - it's xmas!"

had to wait 10 days for a new card and bank book, was told that I could get money out if I just went to a cashier with my new account details.

Few days later I was skint so did just that, went into the branch nearest me and said my old account had been haxored and this was my new account number. The nice gal said ok and let me take out 50 quid, this was without any ID

I have had a odd month with my Bank i have a credit card with a low limit for the internet and it got some credit card fraud. I only checked to see what i had to pay off it, so i called and said hay all but 3 of those payments are not mine so they opened a fraud case. The i get told i should have charges because the fraud took me over my limit but they said they will ignor it because it fraud. So they are winners

I check back and a week later all the charges are gone including my ones so i call and own up don't want them finding that they come to me and then not taking away the other charges. Then i get the fraud decliration thing so again i say these 3 are mine the rest are not.

Check again yesterday and it turns out i have my 3 charges back on there twice and im getting a fee for being back over my limit So for now they lose

Again in terms of lloyds tsb if your using a Credit card (which i assume you were using as thats the only type of card you can use at a different bank) for a Cash Advance we ask for a passport or Driving licence.

Lloyds TSB are fucking shit, I had a cash account with them, one day they told me I couldn't use counter service after charging me for paying in a cheque in dollars haha and not giving me any internet banking and not being able to take money from any cash machine but Lloyds ones. Needless to say I hit the fucking roof closed my account on the fucking spot and took my 6grand (and the 2k in my ISA) elsewhere. I am now a happy customer of Nationwide.

WHat winds me up most about HSBC are the call centres. Now I dont mind the fact its outsourced to timbuctoo (well I do, a bit), but at least train the sodding people. Everytime I ring up, all they seem to be able to do is tell me my balance. I get passed round the houses before I get an anwser to my query.

The support from Lloyds on the basic account is abit meh but i have the platinum and tbh they are spot on from Saturday at 6pm to today they have changed my credit card blance removed the charge and arranged another new card. I also think the Lloyds website is spot on if you get to use it and i have never had a problem getting cash from other machines either. The charge for foreign payments ect is crap though.
