HP all-in-one printers - won't detect my friggin computer

Anyone else had problems with these fkin things and if so how did you sort it?

The usb is detected between the comp and printer as I'm getting that infamous XP 'found new hardware' bullshit but the printer itself says it can't find my computer.

The online support is full of crap fucks unfortunately, who also fail at english.

USB printers are utter shit, I had the same problem with my Lexus printer and I solved it by restarting it over and over again, aswell as plugging in and out the cable and reinstalling the shit drivers that came with it. It worked after a few hours of this bullshit but after having to do it again after formating my PC I just gave up and digged out my old LPT printer that worked on the first try, go figure.

Oooo I take it back about online support - it was of some use

The HP manual told me NOT to use windows hardware installator as it messes it up.

But the online guy told me to use it eventually - and as soon as I did - it installed perfectly.

And yes Helme, usually I avoid them like hell itself. But 27 quid for a scanner & printer & 2 cartridges seemed too tempting an offer to pass up.

Ye I got a similar deal and figured it couldn't be all that bad, but my Canon BJC250 from 98 still beats it :/
