PowerQuest PartitionMagic 7. dunno if there is any freeware of that. otherwise its not a waste of money in buying it.

Just make sure that your computer manufacturer doesn't use a hidden sector on the hard-drive for recovery otherwise you could mess that up completely. If it's a HP, Compaq, Packard Bell, some Sonys or an Advent it probably will. For other manufacturers check with their technical support. If it's a home build then obviously you don't need to worry.

To do it with Fdisk you'd need to delete the existing partition first which would wipe everything on it, then you could create multiple partitions. Partition magic does it without wiping the hard drive first (otherwise it would delete itself...).

Partition magic crashed and nuked my partition table last time I used it.
