how to disable Netsend advertising?

i keep ketting the little netsend messages saying...

Advertise right now in thsi space etc etc......


what do i have to disable in win2000 or on my firewall disallow access to stop these little $$$$$$ sending me this $$$$$$$$

aslo what exactly is SVCHOST.exe and why does it constantly keep begging to be allowed to connect to the outside world?

sounds like a trojan get thee a virus checker.
Get Ad-aware too www.lavasoft.de

or it might be harmless...

still could be something dodgy... just it's setting itself up through a .dll

unless you're running some program that you expect to try to connect to the internet (or run a service on a port somewhere)

I'd say get ad-aware and a virus checker _anyway_ as they're both very useful.

Ok, this is how i disabled mine...

1) right click on My Computer Icon.

2) goto "Manage"

3) down the side you can see > Services and applications. Click on it.

4) more optiosn appear, so click on "Services"

5) the in the list Look for Messenger.

6) Right Click on Messenger in the list, and Press "Stop" this shoudl stop you receiving these dodgy Pop - ups in game.

on a sidenote, I think it's also fixed in one of their service packs. so installing one of those might get you there.
besides that, installing them is always a good idea if you care about security

Pikeboo is absolutely correct in his instructions, its not anything to do with virus, aggresive ad code or alien abduction, just do as was described above and u will eliminate these ffin annoying things.

I never mentioned aliens..

however nuking the aggressive ad-code wherever you find it is good

(and the SVCHOST doesn't sound like it's anything to do with the messenger popups... could be harmless though)
