How much fun is playing a chanter?

I got this ML9 chanter and I'm thinking of toa-ing her just to have yet another rvr toon to play with. However apart from positioning, targeting and/or assisting, I fail to see the fun in a such a toon. Obviously you have to know which toy to use when etc, but it really doesn't seem that appealing to me.

And I might be wrong (rest assured, doesn't happen in real life ) So can you enlighten me on that area please?

fun for soloing but I didnt enjoy running one in a grp ..just didnt find it enough fun or fullfilling - was just click debuff nuke nuke stun ml9 nuke

zzzzzz - after watching staj playing you kinda want one anyway lol but I still prefer elds as they have more of a role to play but if I was to make a class for soloing on hib again it would be chanter for sure.

How can u not like a enchanter is more the question
I really like my chanter, but then again, it's the only mage I have ever made exept for my animist wich I never play in rvr.

I just got very used to playing it and it's just so much fun solo, grouped, camping or roaming.
Ofc mine is ML10, so standing on the roof with an ML9 crystal titan and pb'ing when enemies show their little heads, will get you allot of arpees ,)

Chanters might not have the hardest nuke, but when u get some rr's and spec mom and WP, u'll definately have fun stunning and killing enemies.
PBAOE is just awesome but completely situational (sp?). I use it it in combinatin with MOC2 when either I camp a tower or i'm charging a small group.
In group I usually send my ML9 pet on the healers. If it get's mezzed, so be it, at least the they will be focusing on the big ass pet that's chasing them for a couple of seconds.

Well, noone is really covering my question. You mention strawberries, bananas, various vegetables, that's like "Garden Porn 3". Regarding solo, I can definitelly do it with my vamp without any problems. The only excitement I could see in playing a chanter in RvR would be possitioning, targeting, kiting, all of the above in such a way as to help your group win the fight.

Putting up a titan on the top of a bridge or getting down a tank with a fully buffed ml9 pet is not fun really (ot, ml9 pet is way too op and should be dissallowed in NF at least).

well, if u want casters to be more than what u discribed you should wait for DR subclassing so u can pick up a weapon and styles

From my point of view a caster has to be way more defensive thinking than most tank classes, while a tank (after target selection) has to think about his offense, the right styles, keeping up with kiters etc casters will have to pick and kill their targets while focusing on staying alive and uninterrupted using ur tools like nearsight, disease, ml9 pet, kiting (those pets really should be nerfed for pvp ) and RAs / Artes positioning etc ..

Btw talking of excitement, i know a lot of ppl who play casters just for the excitement of killing ppl with a few nukes in less than a few seconds

well all casters are about positioning, targeting and kiting as you said, not only enchanters..

Enchanters are pretty straightforward, the spells to your dissposal are limited.. even thou they are you will stil have a HELL of a lot to do in a group..

I dont find the class fun at all, what brings me the fun is the teamplay and group itself, not my character.. playing along with either bm,bm,champ or bm,champ, eld is all about coordinating damage, switching from cold debuffing for eld to assist anyone of the tanks.. Enchanters have in my opinion 3 viable main goals(im not gonna get to detailed since that could easly become a book); #1, Dealing damage, #2 Put pressure off druids (pets/tanks), #3 Interrupting opponents.

#1. Enchanters are the best caster in this game to deal damage along with cabalists (cabas are abit ahead with their 2.5spd 110% lt). ML9 compatriot pet has a dmg cap of 489 dmg fully buffed. Enchanters do their damage quick and with odd nice crits. (put an eld there, waste 1 second to cold debuff and you have someone nuking for 600-900 (hi Kippie). Coordinating damage in daoc is A&O,

#2. Your group will never be better then the support you have. Take care of them! Pet control is A&O, even tank control, having offensive druids sheering, you need to take off any tank on them.

#3. You have ml9 pet, dps debuff (every 5 s) (leve 22 one is resisted about 29% of the time), offensive stunning, Enchanter rr5 ability!!! (18 sec interrupt on any target it hits) This tool is not to be underestimated.

Anyway verry verry verry quickly summarized, would like to explain alot more but would just wanna explain this and that and it would be to complicated, some stuff you need to see the group move and play to understand... why nuke a zerker or merc when there is a caster in the enemy group..etcetc..

But if your gonna stripp the class down, imo those are the key roles an enchanter has. I wouldnt say the class is fun, no class in daoc is after I while.. played the same class for 3 years soon? And it looks the same as it did back then, its the group which gives me the fun, not the character.

Censi not to flame u or anything but I do remember this one post in particular where someone was flaming you because you ran away from him cos you didnt fight him one on one properly (which was perfectly understandable by the way)
