Just curious tbh, and would be nice to know if there's any you like - if any?
Was talking with OD about some earlier and was surprised he didn't know a band I was talking about.

Go ahead, fill your boots......

edit without google my bad...

I am looking for names and how many you can mention and each poster has to name a different load from another.

So for example i'll start with this just to kill the goth element, yeah I know sad at my age I still consider myself a goth but goth was different in my day than it is now or at least I hope it is.... hehe

Fields of the Nephilim
The Swans
The Cure (yeah they were considered goth a long time ago)
The Sisters of Mercy
All about eve
Rosetta Stone
Joy Division
Dead Can Dance
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
The Young gods

I could on with eighties indie bands but I won't, that's not the whole point of the thread. I want you to if your are old enough to remember those bands that you liked and if you are opening your eyes - if you are young ; to that scene (albeit what ever you want it to be).

to be fair the 80s wasnt a great decade for music

edit: thinking about it, it was pretty awfull; crappy synthesizer music, rock had died and got overun with glam, punk died etc

can't think of many good bands, metallica maybe...

80's was golden age of heavy metal/thrash metal and early beginnings of black metal, cant say it was a bad decade :)

Soup Dragons & The Farm 80's?? I thought 90's....

Looks up on google, formed in 86....Lead singer killed in car crash trying to escape police...Spartacus Albumn 1991 which is the albumn all their hits came off.

Soup Dragons formed '86 but "I'm free" their only big hit released 1990

Not sure you can have those two.

Pop will eat itself were great though!

Thompson Twins

Big Audio Dynamite

I have a 3 piece picture disc set of 'Hold Me Now' by the thompson twins, each bit has thier logo on, which was a cartoon type drawing of thier heads, and they are basically jigsaw pieces that connect together, i couldn't play them on my turntable at the time as the edges would hit the side of the deck

The 80s were awesome musicwise, if you're going to say 1 time period sucked for music it would be the 90 or the 00s.

You missed Russ Abbott, Kajagoogoo and Black Lace. :(

Funny story to Russ Abbott's 'Atmosphere'. Not it wasn't a Joy Division cover. It was so bad he bought the rights to his own song to stop it been rereleased.
