It's quite good actually Embattle, thanks for asking mate.
As you may [or may not] know, we are in the euro-transition fase now up till the 28th. All the 'old' valuta is being collected and the 'new' euro coinage and paper is being implemented.
It seems to me that things are going rather well atm with only minor problems here and there.
I'll be doing a column on it very soon, more thoughts will be there [very sleepy now so I'm off to bed].
i'd like to know why the UK is so worried about joining a single currency, i can see that the pound is nice and all but wouldnt it be better if we joined with Europe?
that question has to get the prize for nieve statement of the day.why should/shouldnt we join? where do you want to start??
actually dont bother its too much like hard work
It means we can't set our own interest rates so our economy will have to follow Europe's or we'll be knackered. Also because we have the same interest rate it would be considered unfair to allow countries to set their own economic policies as then they could compete for foreign investment etc. OMG, the idea that countries should compete and not collude. How ridiculous. Governments shouldn't have to be competitive like the private sector. Governments are speshul. They 0wnz0r us !!! (note: sarcasm)
At the end of the day the amount of money that gets exchanged by holiday makers is small fry compared to the amounts exchanged by imports and exports and speculat0rs. If you can come up with a reasoned argument why joining the EU is gonna help economically then fine. Holiday convenience is a piddly factor compared to people's jobs.
So, at the end of the day I'm not convinced it would be good for our economy. We're very different from France and Germany.
Go on. Lets have an intelligent debate. Where's Perp ?
