How is it to play your class in RVR !?!

well... i just kill stuff.
and no, i wouldnt call it fun.
its fun when you have an interesting fight, that challenges you to play out of the routine.
its fun when the enemy surprises you.
its fun when both are skilled players, that try to get a grip on the fight, and be on the winning side.
its boring when you kill someone, and 5 mins later, you get him, and his 10 friends on top of you.
its boring when you walk around for 15-30 minutes trying to find 1 or 2 enemies to attack, and you bump in a FG or more.
its boring when one of those is rr1 and starts jumping on your corpse.

if you'd ask me, i'd say there are 3 types of players:

good players, they know what they're doing.
bad players, which will eventually learn... or perhaps not.
wankers, which think they are good, but they suck, and they will never be good.

I think all emain players are ex-fps players. Its all about the FRAG. and thats that.

Healer..

Well playing a healer in emain, is what i try to do good.. you have to be fast with mez, i got

insta ae mez, this is what i always use if i see a fg

insta ae stun, this is what i use if IAM i down and then i run a casting time ae mez,

insta stun, insta mez, both of thise are used to protect myself.

Well, playing Zorena have been alot fun and alot of annoying times too.

When playing healer you need a good group, reliable players and especially tanks who guard you and with the word guarding i dont meen /guard I meen people who are maybe skald who insta mez my attacker or the runemasters nook the hell out of my attacker.

When I am in emain I try not to heal as much anymore rather do single target stun to stop damage on the warrior who is taking damage. Runemasters of course require healing all the time =) but i am mostly occupied with ae mez around and stunning on the enemys who have broken free.

Sometimes tho playing healer is less fun when you recive /y why didn't you heal me afk healer lamer!! whatever..

Everyone should remember that healers can't heal you if you arnt in their sight, and they will probably have someone who trys to kill them.

I understand the problem when fighting on hills as healer i too get alot of "target is not in view" when healing or trying to mez.

I know they're in no particular order but that's how I have them. I don't spam /y as much as I should really, but it helps when I'm being chased by a rat zerg and could do with some mezz/heal loving. And yes, MCL is on there 3 times, just so that I can randomly whack a number in a hurry without having to be precise.

i see what Trents getting at here, ive had some good groups that know what they are doing and know how to kill groups and other groups who have "ffs" macroed for various amusing reasons (have one myself now for special occassions).

basically i usually lead, see cocks in emain, lul, aoe mez (try to avoid instas as they dont last long) then end and heal.

also funny standing next to those avalonian chaps and shouting and lulling them so they cant cast.

although i do find im an early target when the fights kick off but hey its great being a bard, how many classes can stop the 40fgs albs in the amg doorway????

I'll never forget the day, before smite clerics got nerfed, when 2 fgs chased down one lone cleric, who PB mezzed everyone and stood there in shock obviously surprised he had got us all

Shame he had no alb zerg behind him, unlike a minstrel I was fighting and nearly had beaten before he mezzed me again, ran off and came back with about 3fgs of albs lol bah and all I wanted was to be smacked down by a nice PK guard so I could go to coruscating mine to powerlvl a friend

Btw the smite cleric didn't get very far, mez broke on all of us and we wiped him up from the emain earth with a sponge, stuck it in a jiffybag and mailed him home to momma

As for how rvr goes for me, I protect casters, slam tanks, poke mages with sharp things dual wield and pray everyone knows that they are doing, which as it's my good friends usually isn't a problem
Failing that I groan maybe say ffs a couple of times, curse the zerg and go back for more grass...mmmmm grass *drools*

How it is to play my class in RvR?

It's very funny.

Sometimes I run into something called Elfs. Well, they do very naughty things to me, if I can not get close to them, for then they make the most pitiful noises...

Other times I run into something called Celts, and they poke me with long, sharp sticks, or play me some nice music, that completely enthralls me.

This duality is also found in the rather peculiar looking sort called Firbolgs. Anyway, they tend to make their own kind of noises when I do to them what my mother told me not to do on anyone (I always wondered why she kept her kitchen knifes in a locked drawer)...

There are also some very funny little people called Lurikeens. They can do all sorts of evil things to me- but I tend to ignore them as they start screaming and making a mess on the ground after I play with them for a very short time.

The funniest thing is that all of these kinds of animals (or at least not REAL folks) seems to have a sort of a twin, or equivalent. These twins are, in case of the Elfs, something called a Norseman- but the norseman also shows some of the rather disputable qualities of a Celt.
However, the Norsemen are ugly, unshaved creatures... They scream, almost like people, when I cut them in bits- but fortunately in a lanuguage I do not wish to understand.

Those said Norsemen usually comes from where it it very cold- and that can clearly be seen on theit friends. Small, deformed and all BLUE-faced, the hideous creatures called Kobolds entered this world. That, normally, is also how they leave it. If you ask me, I think putting those out of their misery is just a mere act of compassion.

The Frozen people aofte comes with another kind of friend- but a kind that obviously nerver had to starve in their young age. Sturdy, almost fat, the Dwarves roam our borders with ugly skiing goggles and axes bigger than their homes. They, too, make strange noises when one cuts them up...

If the Dwarves are tubby, it's nothing compared to their friends the Trolls. Trolls are big, ugly creatures, who, I have to say, seldom show any evidence of intelligence. They also make noises similar to those of a bull in heat when I tickle them with my cutlery- and that ALWAYS makes me kill them even faster of fear for what might happen if I don't.

The strangest thing of all pecukiarities that I come across when I play my class in RvR is, however, the fact that some people try to dress up as animals to scare me.

Yes it might be ok with those who turn into a moose (even if Lurikeens turning into amoose always makes me laugh so hard I nearly wet my undies), but imagine someone threatening you with a hamster? It is hard to be afraid of an animal you loved and cherished as a wee lad- and if you really get angry with them it's always easy to squeeze them to death with the nearest door.

Ehm, this, my friends is the general impression of how it is to play my class (Highlander Mercenary Master) in RvR.

Grr! Mythic fixing this has indeed been long in coming. A Cabalist can't defend a keep properly with these insane things spamming nukes.

How to play my class(es)? With my minstrel, I usually lead and try to take in the scenery, scan for enemies, and keep an eye to the cg. When I see the enemy, I try to make my group members to unstick me, then either dart in and mezz the bard/healer/nukers, or retreat (provided people have unsticked me) and look for charging tanks to mezz and people to unmezz. If things are sticky, I hit SoS to allow our casters to flee bothersome tanks and the mezzed people to move around and scare the enemy mezzers.

I'm rather more new to my cabalist, but it is (also) a challenge to play since he lacks the nukes to down charging tanks quickly. Usually I try to stay in the back and not be noticed while I stack my dots, sic my pet on a caster or a bard, and then lifedrain any close enemies. The most successful outings have been when I have managed to stay way back and nearsight all the enemy casters, bards are so cute when they are nearsighted and try to inch closer so that they can land their mezz.

Well, my nightshade is just 41 with suicical tendencies. I just try to pull as much of the enemies to me hoping I'll last long enough for the rest of my group to get some nice aoe stuff in. I'm a bluecon, meaning cannonfodder, might aswell accept it and make the best of it for my team. I earn respect with it, but hardly any rps. But it's about the fun anyway

My bard is also a leech, level 36. All I do is try to get the end song playing and mezz people. After that it's just interrupting caster with the insta's and spamming group heal or something.

My little eldritch is the best RvR char I have though I think, had an awesome fight earlier today with Alliance of Power in Odin's gate. Nearsight / aoe mezz / stun where needed / nuke to finish people off is much fun and very good for the group.

The problem with all my chars of course is the low level compared to the rest (50..), but still I don't think it can harm anyone to have some fun in RvR together with higher level people. As long as they know I'm not relaxing and enjoying the show but actually trying to make myself worth as much as possible for the group.

Btw loxleyhood - you be damn glad I wasn't awake earlier today at hmg when you shot Kippie, I'd have pissed you off beyond belief if I had nearsight + quickcast + mezz on my quickbar

Port to emain, join a random group (often 6 paladins, an armsman, and me )
find some hibs, run around like a headless chicken trying to kill Tyka (or any other nasty elvessses) or possibly chase a bard round in circles.
Die horribly when he uses mastery of concentration.
Occasionally throw dirt at someone that's trying to chop up our cleric/casters/etc. and pout when it gets resisted.
Not a huge fan of Emain to be honest

Alternately:
Go to Bledmeer and build trebuchets, try to convince self they're actually doing some damage. Hand out spare trebuchets to passing tanks who have a merry time being able to inflict some damage for a change.

Get to DL, look for friends, either :-

a). Find no friends, buff up, hastner speed. Run to first keep. Rebuff, hastener speed, run to bolg. Along the way get a sinking feeling as the mezz hits, and procede to collapse in a pile at Alphas feet. /release, spam /as with Alpha camping log etc. and try harder to find some friends....

b). Find friends. Get some buffs. Stick to a laggy firborg. Much oos , ld, and exp later arrive in emain... Our bard mezzes some stuff, I bolt the nearest caster twice causing its certain death, and then watch a couple of the enemy tanks purge and charge me at once. There follows a breif but usually futile qc stunn / sprint / face / dd effort that ends up with a dinner of good old emain soil while everyone forgets the 'defend/heal the mage' bit, no matter how many times they quote it

With my infil:

Walk around unstealthed untill something attacks me then I flutter my eyelids whilst waiting for an evade followed by the overpowering uber r0x0r your b0x0r dragonfang and unleash max pwnage.

With my SM:

Start the fight by qc mezzing, by now I'm half health due to the 3 second casting time on all my mezzes. Debuff them then either pbae once after which I get stunned/mezzed/rooted/waxed and die, or I get some range hit them for 150dmg with my dd once and then die.

With my Sorcerer:

Wish all classes were this simple, I just die as soon as I'm done casting a spell that makes me light up like a christmas tree (Read: All my spells).

With my Bard:

This to me is the most fun group class in the game. Especially his AE mezzing and ability to take a beating makes him a sure winner. Just a shame he's on the PVP server, where you can't do anything about portal camping and either get the jump on people xping, get zerged or wander around aimlessly for 2 hours finding only greens/greys.

With my GF's minstrel:

Good fun soloing when buffed. Pretty decent in a group were it not that a bard offers so much more to a group.

Im actually starting to like my Ranger again...

Its all about positioning and target selection....

PBT is still a big problem... and I dont get much benefit from the crit shot ability...

But in terms of gameplay Rangers are top dog...

I found poaching a single blue dex and using a shortbow with a coupla draw-time cutting RA's was enough to easily kill pbt'ed targets censi - sure the damage blows, but you get off a shot per 1.6ish so less than 50% even if theurgists get they're top PBT (which strangely a lot dont seem to have).

Having said that mind some alb group in emain musta had two with the lowest pulse time or sommat - i landed 1 arrow out of 5 - turn /sprint /speedrun and pray i reach something to block LOS before the mincer sprinting at me gets into mezz range.

WTF people expect demezz? I demezz after the fight if you're still alive, during the fight I'm too busy mezzing / stunning / fighting dying. It should be on clerics or some other class that can't spec a weapon.

Whenever I see one shooting at me, I run to range 1500, qc nuke or fire charge(insta) - dead hunter, not a chance for survival.
He will be interrupted till he is dead.
