Most of us mercs must be silly then Matt:).

Mercs are like any other tanks,offence/defence,what you lose in one you gain in the other, but the benefit of having a high parry spec is almost rendered useless in RvR,against the crafty (especially mids) enemy,as they attack and move as to avoid you parrying, also IMHO to train/specc in something you have no control over is a bit pointless, maybe if they introduced end using parry which could be used at will,it would be a whole new ball game,as having parry has made us forfeit the right to wear plate armour:(.

What I personally would prefer is evade at the same level as SB`s coupled with the ability to train in bows:).

Yes but about every merc has 44 dw or 50 dw which in my view is worth it,if they don't and go for not a full 50 in dw or their chosen weapon type they will not be that effective in damage as you say.

Anyway mine is:

50 CRUSH 44 DW 37 PARRY

Ok if it doesnt work out that good even though i am sure it will i will respec in a 50/50/28 but don't know til what yet. Also at the moment i outhit most armsmen and 2h paladins, having 3 spd weapons 99 qua too in each hand helps a lot.

Also i think its best to have about that much parry to use the lv44 dw style effectively, with 50 in crush anyway will make me a good damage dealer even though i am already.

Just for the record my spec is slash 50 (yes i think diamond slash is worth the extra end cost) 50 parry (yes it works alot for me in rvr and any middie or hibbie tank who has faced me 1 on 1 will tell ya, when its fixed ill be pretty awesome) and finally my dw is 28 i think, but...... let me finish, with all my items my dw is like 38 slash 58 and parry 63 and let me say i hit with both weapons 80 - 90% of the time. I find that acceptable.

to avoid those crafty middies i find "/stick" renders their strafe tactic inefective ;P

It would because lv44 dw is one of the best styles by far once you pull it off, having a lot of parry is useful for it.

I find hitting them like a truck even more effective:).

max's mercs probly better off with nor wearing plate as middies hammers dont do as much dmg to u whilst weraing chain.

This is yussef's idea of the ultimate merc template!

39 SLASH 39 THRUST 44 DW 30 PARRY 7 SHIELD

Use slash upto lv50 let thrust auto train then put points into at 50.

Peoples thoughts on this?mind you it wasn't originally yussef's idea but a merc on alb excal hehe.:D
