How do you like them appl... err.. DOTs?

Took my lurikeen mentalist to Thid after some extremely fast soloing on mites and tried out AE DOTs in RvR for the first time. I'd like to say many thanks to Albs for zerg mentality and good use of /stick.

Also a "Hi" to Powderbone and his group, who got harrassed by a stealthed lurikeen mentalist (Love them rivers ) for half an hour without managing to kill me.

And again... many thanks to albs for those countless occassions where 20+ albs didn't notice the robed lurikeen behind them, not even after it was too late

Must admit was kind of ashamed that ONE (yes people you read that right) one hibby stopped about 30 albs from taking the keep in thid. Got killed myself twice by that DOT too. Its a little weird though dat some AoE-DOT with that power is in thid but ok. Brings me to my question: are you using all lvl 30 100% quality shit with big matter bonusses or is is just a very very powerfull DOT? It kills a non-buffed scout in 1 cast

Read my sig, I usually play on Prydwen - my little luri is in half linen armor and I was using a focus 17 staff all until some time yesterday

Got no +con items, no +dex items and like +6 int total. I do have an epic necklace with +2 mana skill though.

DOTs are just overpowered like crazy now . Be glad you're an alb though... cabalist DOTs are even more insane in Thid (spec 24 AE where mine is 23, and they have baseline and spec in matter where my baseline is in mentalism with mad variation)

I believe the damage with capped int would be 68 per tick though, so it doesn't make that much of a difference if I did cap everything.

By the way, I almost capped out yesterday (ended at 327 rps) and I started in Thid with this char Saturday evening - and most of the time I was either ungrouped or grouped with Baylee so it's mostly from my own work and her finishing off my softened targets

However on a serious note u say cabbie dots are better. Maybe double dotting them yes but my ae dots with 24 matter hits for 56 but yours do 61 a tick. I dont understand how u hit for much more unless u r seriously twinked with int buffs or items.

Cabalists can get in Thidranki:
24 Perforate Spirit Enemy 3.0 Rng: 1500 Area: 350 43/24 ticks 23 power

Mentalists can get in Thidranki:
23 Fog of Delirium Enemy 3.0 Rng: 1500 Area: 350 41/24 ticks 22 power

So maybe you didn't take matter to 24. That doesn't remove the possibility of doing so. Think before you call me a liar.

As for the "I'm so uber" part... It was more thought of as a "Nerf me" - My main is a healer and I absolutely HATE DOTs when I play her.

Speccing 24 matter on a cabby is rare tho as most tend to go for 3 in spirit to get the "kill pet for mana" spell.
im gonna try 24 matter tho , killed a few earlier with me dots although I got 1 shotted by mids twice which weren't funny .

My naked int is 89 (60 starting + 10 points + 19 with levels)

Add to this, my level 7 epic ring (Stone Loop, +3 int +1 dex), a level 16 dropped ring (Ring of the Maddened, hits+9 int+3), level 15 epic necklace (Necklace of Energy, mana+2 int+3) and the Spectral Shroud, level 22 cloak (con-6 emp+3 int+3 - yes, negative con). That's 101 int.

Sometimes I wear my level 11 epic Cap of the Mind instead of the sylvan cap I normally use - mentalism+1 int+6, so 107 int with it.
My staff doesn't have +int on it, and is in fact rather crappy (tri-focus 19, hits+18).

In total I have from items:
int+12
dex+13
con+0 (got a con+6 item to make up for the -6 on the cloak)
hits+21
mana skill+2
mentalism+1

Also I have 8% in all physical resists, duo to this being my second mentalist at this level, so I had the opportunity for two Bracers of Obstruction (dex+3 crush/slash/thrust 4%).

Now, all this is just rambling, just listed is because I found it amusing you accused me of being seriously twinked - short version is this:
I have 101 int and 24+2 mana. If you have similar stats then I have absolutely no explanation why your DOT ticks for less.

Strange you have quite low INT, my Cabbie is a Saracen(low int, high dex) and at lvl13 i have 102INT not buffed, not sure what my INT will be by 24 but will aleast be 120 and with INT buff 140+.

Looking forward to this now, now that DOT are based on intel i wish i had gone Avalonian but oh well

Well, like I said, almost no +int items. And lurikeens have same starting int as both britons and saracen. Yes, I know my int is depressingly low. You should see my hps I like to at least pretend that if I do well it's because of wits not items More likely it's because DOTs are overpowered and because lurikeens are impossible to spot in water

I dont understand this either. I have 104 int , only base 24 matter skill, no extras and it ticks for 5 less than yours on an even con.

Int doesn't seem to make much difference to dots tbh, I get 105-110/tick at 182 int (unbuffed, capped) and 115/tick at 220 int (buffed) on my AE dot.

Have you tested this lately? Int has only started affecting the dot damage since 1.52

Maybe there is an upper limit

At one point with all my +int stuff equipped I did 66 per tick on yellow mobs. Then a level 50 druid buffed me with ~50 +int and I did 68 per tick. My casting speed fully dex-buffed was nice tho

I didn't use dots before 1.52 as I was light spec, so yes.

This was with Fordo whose only RAs are Aug Acu 1 and MCL.
