How do you kill the 'sarge in Doom 3?

Tried like 20 times last night, couldnt beat him, think i'm just missing something completely obvious. You have to shoot the pillars or something?

Ah okay, I thought it was similar to the Guardian, unlimited hitpoints, just a special way to kill it.

Think i'll just need to unload everything I have into it.

strangely i just used the soul cube on him and he died :/

Just keep firing at him, killing the bfg shot as you go, and he dies

I thought sarge was better than the last boss. If you kept running around the pit the enemies spawned the same everytime powering the soulcube.

Anyone know why nightmare is hard as you get the soul cube from the off but nothing seems to be harder...a bit weird that.

Maybe its the beta patch screwing with the difficulty?
