How do i start my comp in dos mode?

Using windows xp professional edition & i need to bot my comp in dos.
I know how to do it in windows 98, but its not the same in winxp.

help please^^

Aint no dos in windows xp (only a command prompt)

dont have xp so it's a grab in the dark


when booting, when you see the nice little "box" with all your devces in, spam f8 until you get a bootoptions menu

if this doesnt work, make a system bootdisk (format a: /s) , shove it in and boot with it

well the thingis that i need to wipe c: where windows is.

Just instert your Win XP CD and boot from it. You can format the disc from there

I thought MS DOS was the same as the Command Prompt just a different name..?

MS DOS is an operating system, command prompt is an 'instance' of it but won't actually do anything to control the system.

hmm doesnt make much sense i'm afraidessentially they will both perform the same functions but you cant do things like format in a command prompt instance but you can when you boot into dos
