What my graphics card is called?

I had to reformat my PC and I think I may need to update the drivers on my graphics card, as webpages seem to big for my browser and I cant play FM2007 in windowed mode.

Its control panel > System > then what?

TIA

i think you have to install it before it will tell you. If its radeon just DL the latest driver from their home page, likewise with Nvidia i would assume.

Bit of a noob when it comes to PCs. My computer came with the graphics card installed. Surely I dont need to reinstall it again?

It just sounds like your desktop resolution is set wrong.

Control Panel -> Display -> Settings. change the resolution.

I think you'll need to go to 1024 by 768 at least to be able to play FM in windowed mode.

you will do if you formatted, all the drivers and such are stored on your hard rive, its really simple to do so don't worry.

if its radeon go to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html then select windows pro/home then radeon, then the type you need (used to be far simpler actually from looking at it just now) though near the bottom there is a generic driver (radeon series) which is probably what you are looking for if you have a radeon

If it is Nvidia go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and its pretty much the same

Graphics driver>Card type>Win XP

In both cases it helps if you can find out what yours is, do you not have any of the documentation that came with the PC? will be on there somewhere.

I'd like to highjack this thread, I also need FM to go into Windows mode, thought it was beacause my computer was too slow, that it wouldn't work, but I'll try downloading a newer driver. Only thing is, I don't know which one to get, my graphics card is called Nvidia Gforce 4 Ti4200 with AGPx8 or something. Which of the Gforce series would that make it? :p

Here are the latest nvidia drivers for you.

Personally though, I use version 77.77 of the drivers, and was actually told to do so by the manufacturers of my graphics card. To be honest, you only need newer if you're using SLI or some of the more recent cards. Although I do think they've added some gubbins into the recent drivers for smoother HD video playback. Anywho, make your choice, the links are there. :)

Was gonna suggest Start --> Run --> dxdiag but the suggestion above mine probably seems better.

Being completly ignorent about computers does not automaticly make you a cool guy, just means your missing out on one of the key tools used in the world. But if you think being retarded when it comes to IT means your not a geek then thats fine with me.

Bah, didn't work.

Says my settings doesen't allow windowed mode :|

Nicked from SIGames webby, probably something you've seen before, but just in case...

SIGames.com said:
If you are running a wide screen monitor that appears to be bigger than the minimum resolution of the game you are running, it's possible that the vertical resolution available is less than what is required at a minimum. For the game to run in windowed mode, your available desktop space must be equal to or greater than the minimu resolution required for the game.

For example if the game (such as FM2007) requires a minimum of 1024 x 768, and your wide screen monitor only offers a wide screen resolution of for example 1152 x 864 or 1440 x 900 (common for 17" LCD wide screen monitors), then once the size of the taskbar, window titlebar and possible other items that occupy desktop space it taken into account, the available desktop space may be 768 or less. When this happens the game will not allow you to run in windowed mode.

There is a way you force it into windowed mode, but be aware that this is an unsupported solution.

* Right click the game shortcut (on the desktop, the quick launch bar or in the start menu)
* Go to the "Shortcut" tab
* In the "Target" area, add the following: "-small_screen -windowed" without the quotes
* If you have installed the game to a location with spaces in the path there will be quotes around the game executable, for example: "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive Ltd\Football Manager 2007\fm2007.exe" - add the above arguments outside and after the quotes.
